I threatened, and I wasn't bluffing. "Now what do you want to say?" The alpha drawled, cutting me off in the process. "I'm not staying here," I said again, this time with a fierceness I never knew I had. "You do not have a choice here woman, you can only leave here once you’ve paid me the money your Dad owes me." He snapped. “He’s not even my dad!” I yelled in frustration, “you should’ve taken his own daughter and not me!”

What was I going to say? I’m the Alpha daughter of Kragen Knight, heir of the Silver Moon Pack. I ran away because I watched him kill my mother, and I feared he would kill me, too. That kind of accusation could get you killed without undeniable proof. My memory was far less than what anyone would consider proof, especially since he had never claimed me as his child. For all anyone knew, he was childless, heirless. He had tried for years to get my mother pregnant again, but it never happened.

Let’s go, Dan,” the other muttered, shoving him back. They turned and fled, the echo of their hurried footsteps swallowed by the night.
