June said, disconnecting the call. "Who died?" Atlas asked, waking up naked. He walked to the wardrobe to get himself a new pair of clothes to wear as Octavia watched him. He wasn't so bad naked; he was good-looking, a well-groomed man with firm buttocks. "I am sure it is not my butt that died," Atlas teased, noticing that Octavia was looking at his butt and not answering his question. Maybe he should start getting more naked around her; it seemed she was turned on by things like that.

Ryle followed two paces behind, watching the shadows, weapon drawn. “This place was shut down six years ago,” Atlas whispered. “But it’s wired. Look.” He pointed toward a pressure-sensitive floor panel just ahead. Ryle crouched, deactivated it with a swift wire cut. “She’s in here. I can feel it,” Ryle said, voice tense. “We need to move fast,” Atlas growled. “Leon’s playing with time—and time always kills.” Miranda watched the monitors in silence. Her assistant stepped in. “Do you want to activate the failsafe?”

The older sister scowled at the little one, who rolled her eyes and giggled in response. “Alette and Adelina.” Atlas motioned to the two sisters. The six-year-old, Adelina, flashed a dimpled smile at me while Alette gave me a wary glance. “This is my true-mate, Raelynn.” “Don’t mind Alette, she worry’s too much.” Adelina snorted, smiling at Atlas and I, much more intelligent than I would’ve pegged a six-year-old. “She’s Atlas’s true-mate Alette, you know she wouldn’t hurt us.”

Just…maybe under the radar, scheming,” Aaron shrugged. “It’s only a matter of time before he collects his children to take down the IMC so he can be King or some shit-“

“It’s not like anything unusual happened, Atlas. She just—” “I don’t care,” Atlas interrupted, his voice a low growl. “No one will know. Understand?” The healer didn’t argue, her voice softening. “Yes, of course, Atlas.” My pulse throbbed in my ears, the sound of his name a constant ringing reminder of the dangerous unpredictability of his presence. As Atlas turned to leave, his eyes flicked briefly to me, I shut my eyes, pretending that i was still unconscious and then he left.

He didn't look away; he just tracked me with a look that was intense and hungry. I’m so sorry. The thought that he saw me as a challenge made my pride flare, even as Selah retreated. My lips pulled into a tiny smirk. 'Not mine,' she muttered. "I know a lot of things," Atlas said. His voice was steady, his jaw set. The challenge in his voice made me narrow my eyes. I pointed a finger at the stone fountain. "Fine, genius. Explain that, then." "It’s a wolf," he said simply. "With snakes on its legs."
