It slashed through the night sky, sweeping a terrifying force toward them. All three of them were subjected to extremely oppressive forces. When the blade glow was blasted at them, they all spread out into the area. The cave was split apart by that blade’s glow. A loud bang was heard, followed by the rise of a black light pillar into the sky. A black book was seen flying into the sky while trapped in the pillar. “The Glinting Tome!” The trio spread in the area soared into the air as soon as they saw this book. Tyr appeared at the crucial moment with his body surrounded by the golden runes. He turned into a stream of light as he rushed up to the tome.

He was licking her marking spot, preparing her for his mark. Fuck that. Havoc sprang through the air, knocking him away from her, teeth ripping into the scruff of his neck, looking over as Ryker came barrelling through the trees, tangled with another wolf, teeth snapping, drool flying. Lyse stood, looked at me and shifted and she ran toward me, bigger than she had been, her teeth bared, hatred in her eyes. The black wolf took advantage of that momentary distraction to jump at me, teeth bared, grabbing my hind flank, tearing into the muscle.

The silence of the rejection ceremony. The ice refroze. Jagged. Uneven. Brittle—but back. She opened her eyes. The hazel-gold light was flat now. Lethal. With a sharp, brutal motion, she wiped the blade clean against her tactical trousers, erasing the warmth. “I won’t owe you anything, Blackwood,” she whispered into the dark. “Not a drop of blood. Not a single breath.” The knife slid home with a sharp snick. She turned. Kael stood in the command center doorway.

Everything was pitch black with a bright white light in the middle of it that was obscuring my vision further. “Agrh!” I screamed as the person whisked past me slicing my arm with a blade. “Ahhhhh!” I screamed out again as the blade slashed across my cheek. Crouched down on the floor holding my face as blood seeped through my fingers, I cried out desperately for Mina to help me. “This is a silver blade soaked in wolfsbane, your mutt won't be able to save you this time Freya!”

Third Person POV Blade’s chest heaved against hers, the heavy oak door still rattling faintly from the force with which he’d slammed it shut. His body caged her perfectly…tall, broad, radiating raw Alpha power…yet the second his thumb brushed the delicate skin beneath her ear, something inside him recoiled hard. What the fuck was he doing? He, Blade Blackthorn, Alpha King of Ash Creek, was acting like a lovesick puppy. One look at her in that crimson dress, one touch of her hand, and he’d dragged her off like a starving wolf scenting fresh meat.

she whispered, fear threading her voice. “You survived it,” I said, gripping the handle of my knife, feeling the familiar weight like an extension of my arm. “And then you make sure it never comes back.” Blade gave me a nod, a silent agreement. His gaze flicked to the shadows. “It’s not human. Not really. But it can bleed. And when it bleeds…” His eyes glinted. “…we make it count.” From the corner of my eye, I caught movement. A black blur, almost imperceptible, circling behind the trees. My heart hammered. The figure was patient, letting us think we had a moment’s reprieve. But that was all it was—an illusion.

A sacred blade was placed in his hands. If his soul was still pure, the blade would remain silver. If he was corrupted—if any part of him still belonged to the ancient evil— The blade would turn black. Daniel exhaled slowly. His fingers tightened around the hilt. For a moment, nothing happened. Then— The blade flickered. It pulsed, shifting between silver and black, like it couldn’t decide. The council stiffened. Rigel’s breath caught. “Daniel—” Daniel squeezed the blade harder. “Stay silver.”
