Of course, no names were written in the book—each world was represented only by a golden point of light. If my guess was correct, this was the one-of-a-kind travel grimoire known throughout the world as The Nine Realms Book of the Fire God. But why would Lan possess such a book? It was unbelievable. Suddenly, I recalled my conversation with Shia the night before. I had asked her whether someone as powerful as Lan could possibly be one of the Twelve Prime Gods.

Torn between giving up to find something else to use against Trevor or to remain in faith and spend more time here. My hands brushed against a book; its cover coated with thick layers of dust. I grabbed it, blowing and dusting off the dirt from it. My pulse quickened. Mind racing. The Ninth Moon Manuscript. The book. I found it. Relief flooded through my veins as I clung to it tightly, climbing down the ladder as quickly as I could. "If that is what you came for then forget it." The librarian's voice shrilled from behind me. Startled, I jerked. "Only the rich and powerful can access the knowledge in there."

Emilia's POV The ninth light remained in the sky. It did not behave like an ordinary star. It pulsed slowly, as though something on the other side were breathing. Everyone in the courtyard had fallen silent. Aurel stared upward. "That light should not exist." Veya's expression grew even more serious. "But it does." Liam hurried toward us, clutching several ancient books. "I reviewed every celestial record in the academy." "There is nothing." "Not even a reference to a ninth realm."

“Who are you talking to? That cousin again, or someone I don’t know?” I had just finished confirming my flight. I locked the screen. “I was reading the news.” His face darkened even more. He snatched the phone from my hand and demanded the passcode. “Our anniversary,” I said. Nine years together. Six simple digits. He entered them once. Then again. Then a third time. The phone stayed locked in his hand. By the time we returned to Blackthorn House, neither of us had spoken another word. The car had barely stopped before he helped Lyra upstairs, one arm wrapped around her waist as if she might break.

The solidification of Aethel-9 in the Sahara had turned the desert into a sanctuary of glass and sound, but the L1 Lagrange point was already pulsing with a different frequency. The "Second Book" was arriving, and it didn't look like a geometric dodecahedron or a city of light. It looked like a Spore-Cloud.
