“Sorry, Dad, but I don’t believe in fountain magic anymore.” I set my bag on the ground and pulled my book out. I bit my lip as I looked at the beautiful blonde on the cover. The men that surrounded her would be more than enough to satisfy any woman. I knew it was just a picture, but it didn’t stop me from wanting to be her. I opened the book and began to read. I had just made it to chapter two when the book was snatched out of my hand. I jumped to my feet ready to rip whoever had taken my book apart. I froze when I found myself looking at Timothy. I held my hand out. “Give me my book. You can not just walk around stealing stuff.”

It smelled of rank B&O and stale fries. When he got to his feet, he was a little dizzy, but that wasn’t going to stop him. He had found some old books and a few blades stain with what looked like blood. He started digging around on the desk hoping to find something, but he didn’t know what. That is when he came across an old leather-bound book with strange writing across it. He saw the pictures of a crystal cross that had emeralds lined down the middle. Well, that helped Thomas understand why the cross ended up being very important but why did he have a piece of it?

He turned his body around abruptly and looked at his guys, "What are you all doing there? Attack them and kill them all you cowards! Bianchi died!" I laughed a long dry laughter. It was pathetic. The whole scene was. He was practically begging at this point. "The first person to take a step dies." I warned. I took up my gun and corked it. "You evil psycho! Lilith my foot!!" One of them shouted in his loudest voice and charged towards me with a knife. Before he could take any more steps, I pulled the trigger and he slumped to the ground. And the tarts on the house.” As Etsu walked over to serve the other guy Caitlynn reached into her bag and pulled out her book. For today it was The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. She turned to her bookmark, slipped it out and began reading from page 193. Her gaze swept across the pages, dark brown eyes drinking in every word in the tale told by Death. She loved this book because the characters intrigued her, most specifically the main protagonist, Liesel.

From within its center, two faint red eyes opened. You are not the first. I stumbled back. You are not the last. The whisper wasn’t heard with ears. It was felt, deep inside, pressing into my chest like a weight. “Run!” Damien’s voice finally echoed from the dark. But none of us moved. The shadow surged forward—not to attack, but to the pedestal. In one motion, it consumed the book. The leather burned in an instant, curling into ash. I screamed. “No!” But the book was gone. Everything we had just learned. Everything we could have used.

"We're partners, remember? You don't get to protect me from the job." He studied her for a moment, then nodded. "Fine. But you stay close to me. And if things get dangerous—" "I know. Signal for backup, don't be a hero." She strapped a knife to her thigh. "I've got it." Twenty minutes later, they pulled up to the warehouse district. The sky was lit orange, flames consuming the building while firefighters struggled to contain it. Smoke billowed thick and black into the pre-dawn darkness. Massimo met them at the perimeter, his face grim. "It's bad. They used accelerants—professional job. By the time our guards realized what was happening, it was too late."

The triplets, she heard, were drafting a code that could spoof the gridded perimeter, allowing for temporary, glorious lapses in surveillance. It was the book that changed everything. Finch smuggled it into the yard during a midshift riot. Elena felt its impossible weight, the roughness of its cover, the crisp drag of a page between fingers. The guards inspected it briefly before turning back to me. "This book contains secrets the Alpha king deemed too dangerous for public knowledge," the first guard said. "You are lucky we intercepted it before you revealed what you had learned. Come with us now." They grasped my arms, dragging me from my home. I struggled against them in vain. "But I only looked at the pictures!" I cried. "I did not read a word!"

I murmured quietly trying not to draw attention to myself. The picture in the first page of the book was Zemia, his siblings and who I assumed are his parents . I walked up to the Liberian with the book at him. “So is this fictional?!.” I asked. “No dear, it's history!.” She replied. I stared at the book in my hands “thank you!.” I told her and walked back to my seat. ^^^^ Zemia had an emergency call from Zephyr informing him about the current happenings in the underworld.
