Levi noticed and stopped, turning back to wait for her. Her face flushed even more. She lowered her head and jogged to close the distance. Just as they neared the apartment, Maude's phone buzzed. Orson had texted from another number. "Today's the last day of the two weeks. I'll be waiting for you to come back." Maude blocked his number once more and tucked her phone away. Before long, they reached the apartment. Levi turned to face her. "Goodnight, Maude." As she reached for the door, she felt his eyes on her, just like every night before.

The girl said. “Same here. I actually thought that this book wasn’t popular but you’re reading it as well. Oh, I’m Kayne by the way, Kayne David.” “I’m Natsumi Koga, it’s nice to meet you!” “Ah yes, you as well. I was actually about to ask if you always come here.” Kayne asked. “Uhuh, I always go to this café every time I go to town, this is actually kind of my spot, haha.”

The second text message read: "I'm here to get my Russian Book." It was from four hours ago. Stella Grace felt guilty and said apologetically, "You have been waiting here for a long time, haven't you? Why don't you go inside first?" "I sent a message to ask Eli Wayne. She said that you are not at home and she will call me when you come back. She hasn't called me, so I am waiting here." Jasper Milton explained. Stella Grace lowered her eyes and turned around. "Then come with me. I'll return the book to you."

That night, after calmly arranging his affairs, I took sleeping pills and lay down next to him. “I’ll be with you soon.” When I opened my eyes again, there was a blinding white light. “Are you okay?” I shot upright and realized I was leaning over my desk. The girl next to me was wiping tears from her cheeks, choking on her sobs. “Emma just went off with Callum. Ugh, finally, love triumphs over everything.” My eyes widened as I looked down at the novel in front of me. It was open to the chapter titled “Please Wait for Me.” The illustration showed him holding my hand, standing by the sea, supporting each other through life.

Waiting for something to end. Or begin.

Arian's pov By the time everyone had left, the silence that followed their departure was a stark contrast to the vibrant energy that had filled the hall just hours before. We, the book club members, waited behind. We stark the chairs neatly, but the floor was littered with discarded programs. While we waited for the cleaning service to do their magic, I took my stand at the makeshift podium. As I stood on the podium, I glanced at the familiar faces who waited. Almost all if not all of the book club members waited. It is a ritual to wait after a special event like this.

Third Person POV At the Smith Group's charity banquet, Jason held Susan's hand and stood under the spotlight, basking in flattery. Suddenly, the screen went black, and a statement appeared on a red background. It was a divorce notice—Charlotte's request to formally sever all ties, issued through her lawyer. Next, a clear ultrasound scan was shown, accompanied by an audio recording. "Take her blood. She's tough, so she won't die from donating some blood." Jason's cold voice echoed through the speakers to every corner of the banquet hall.

Hungrier. Waiting.

He nodded once, palming the book into his coat pocket as if it was evidence in a case he wasn't ready to break yet. Aria’s laugh echoed from the back, and he turned toward it. That was why he came, after all. Not for the book. Not for the woman with ink-stained fingers and stars in her eyes. Or so he told himself. “I’ll wait for her out front,” he said. Lena nodded. “Take your time.” He turned to go, but paused at the door. Glanced back. “You always hand books out to strange men in suits?” "Only the ones who appear to have forgotten how to feel," she said, soft but unafraid.
