The Books I Read Novels & Stories

I only read business contracts, manifestos, and newspapers when I’m bored, but most times it’s business contracts and documents belonging to a property I was buying. “This is a good read, trust me on this. Luxiana Sommeris Work had been exhausting, but I felt a quiet satisfaction at the end of the day. A steady stream of students and middle-aged readers had come to the library, eagerly searching for books to immerse themselves in. I’d always assumed that technology would take over even the simple joy of reading. With ebooks and online platforms offering instant access to stories—often for just a handful of coins—it seemed inevitable. Yet, seeing people choose the weight of a book in their hands, cherishing the earthy smell of its pages, and savoring the anticipation of flipping to the next chapter made me undeniably happy.

I walk towards my mini-library I have in my room and I bring out a book, it's been a while since I got lost in one of these fantasies. I take one out, I use my hand to trace the Braille, this was my favourite book. The Princess Diaries, I remember always reading this, I made my father read it to me when I was little as well, I remember Pretty Little Liars, I overheard someone talking about it, and when I joined in their convo, they were talking about the movie, I only read the book, funny how most people don't know that most of these movies and series were based on books, and yes these books are re written in Braille so blind people like myself can also read it.

My heart was beating wildly in my chest, but I was a better actor than I thought. "What do you read?" "Um," I frowned, thinking quickly. "I'm in the mid-dle of a book called Christine right now. I circle different authors, and when I find ones I like, I go through the backlist, but not all at once, and I'm back on Stephen King for now. After that one, I'll read Carrie and The Shining, then find something else to read."

So I pasted a friendly smile on my face and spoke to her. "We have both fiction and nonfiction books, and there are a lot of genres under each. We have romance, fantasy, horror, sci-fi and the likes under fiction and we also have self help, motivation, religious, educational books and such under non fiction, so please feel free to explore." My voice was professional. "Um...what books do you like?Personally?" It took everything in me not to show my frustration. "I'm not picky with books."

I’ve lived my life, protecting myself from the world, from disappointment, betrayal and lies, but with her, I began to bring down those walls until I didn’t even know when my feelings developed into so much more without even seeing a glimpse of her. I skim over her collection, Motorcycle Club, Mafia... Disney Villain tales… and then there are the classics that she accidentally slipped out that she reads before denying she read them. I crouch down. They may be at the bottom, but the books have been read and I can’t help but smile.
