CHAPTER 1: The wind danced through the leaves on the trees making a rustling music as it went. The white she-wolf’s snowy white fur joined the ensemble as the breeze teased it while she sat on the rock. Her eyes closed as she sniffed the air for hints of anything exciting. It was a perfect day for hunting and she’d hoped to find a rabbit or two that should be out grazing on a beautiful morning like this. Instead, she caught the scent of something that didn’t frequent the forest. It wasn’t totally foreign, but it didn’t belong there. Man. The she-wolf’s ears perked and her blue eyes shot open.

Looking up, I notice the sun has moved to a much more comfortable position in the sky and so I continue my journey up the mountain. The snow crunches between my paws. It feels strange at first, but I get used to the feeling soon enough. I am starting to feel a little hungry. I take a moment to survey my surroundings. If I go any higher, then there might be nothing to hunt and eat. I decided to take care of that before continuing with my journey. Thanks to Darnell for teaching me how to survive as a wolf during the times I am stuck in the wilderness.

I reach the clearing, skidding to a stop, chest panting as I look around. But there’s only silence. The smell of wet cat mixed with honey invades my nostrils, making my blood run cold.
