She climbed the steps, crossed the threshold, and tried to ignore the way the wolf inside her went completely, inexplicably alert. Just adrenaline, she told herself. Just the territory. Just being back. She kept walking. End of Chapter One.

Feared. But something deep within her stirred, ancient and electric. Change was coming. She didn't know when. Or how. But she felt it in her bones. ' I lamented. 'Oh!' I was surprised as I watched her move so fast after checking her phone, like the languid, sultry movements from earlier were merely an illusion. "Who is she hurrying for?' I wondered possessively as I felt myself being suffocated with fury to the unknown "rival wolf." I was alerted when my wolf whimpered in distress and my heart felt empty when I realized she's walking away, walking away from us.. ----End of Chapter One----

A thread of pain starts at the top of my head, going through every inch of my body to leave me breathless and shaky. When I open my eyes, I see the ground up close, my snout almost touching the snow. Lena moves each palm and leg separately and happily howls to the sky. This wasn’t as bad as I expected. She is eager to meet Dante, and my excitement matches her finally. I hear a reply howl from not so far, and I know it must be him. Lena does not move toward them; instead, she jumps around some trees and enjoys her body for the first time.

I rested my head on my paws and closed my eyes as I panted softly. My eyes flew open and I sat upright, I had fallen asleep in the grass. I held my arm out and examined my hand, turning it around in front of my face. Human again. I looked around me at the forest. The sun had already begun to set, and it was getting dark. Oh no, I’m late, Dad will kill me. I stood up and looked down at myself. Crap! I'm naked. Do I really have to go back, couldn’t I just live in the forest now? You know, survive off the land and all that? I shivered as the last bit of sun left me and wrapped my arms around myself. Who am I kidding. I don’t know the first thing about surviving in the wild. I'd barely last the

I growled loudly as I began to shift. Alastor, Harriet, Heather, and Iris were already shifted, pawing at the ground, waiting for me. As the silver fur engulfed my body, I fell to the ground at a run. I let out my loudest howl signaling it was now or never to my pack. ***Bring my baby home.*** Gaea’s voice called to me. My paws dug into the earth, each stride longer and faster than the last. I couldn’t move fast enough. The thunderous sound of my pack of wolves charging through the forest, sending all the creatures that lurked in the woods running in terror.

I mean, he just can't kill a wolf unless he has. I stopped on my tracks when realization hits me. That guy. H-he has a gun. I immediately turned around and saw how the guy loaded his gun and pointed it at Hunter's wolf, who the latter was just staring at me from afar. His eyes wordlessly telling me to don't go. And without any second thoughts, I ran back to him. "No! " ### End of Chapter 10 Pt. 2 ###

Paul replies and hangs up. Leaving my car at the airport, I run to the woods. Once I'm past the tree line, I shift mid-air, jumping over a log. I plant my paws on the ground and let out a howl. I turn my head to see my pack coming through the trees. I give them a look, and I run towards Chloe's scent with my pack right on my heels. Chloe's POV

* I commanded. They all howled their acceptance. Since I settled that part, I turned on my four paws and raced through the woods, eager to get to Evie before anything would happen to her. As I ran, one of my paws stepped on a tree branch and got a part of it into my paw. I merely licked the blood off before I continued on my journey. As I made my way back to the pack, her scent hit me, and I knew that she must have passed through this place not quite long ago. My blood froze as I realized that she must be in the woods and must have been the one who let out that desperate cry for help.
