“You can never defeat me.” Without giving Darkness a chance to react, he turned into his wolf, pushing Darkness back a few feet away. His wolf was huge, eyes glowing white with obsidian fur that could consume any light. He bent into a fighting position, menacing as he growled at Darkness. Darkness cracked his neck to the side, releasing his shadows so they could play.

I started to cry and ran into the back room away from everyone, especially the Dark Wolf. Seconds later Raven and Wyatt came into the room. “Azura what’s wrong?!” Both of them said at the same time. In between cries I managed to say, “The Dark Wolf is my mate!” Both Raven and Wyatt gasped. “Are you sure it’s him?” Raven cam over to hold me. “My wolf kept jumping and saying mate mate mate as soon as I locked eyes with him! Yes I am sure it’s him!” I yelled. “Why him?!” I cried some more in Raven’s arms and that’s when I felt the rush again, I knew he was close.

It was here. As she stepped closer, the world around her seemed to shift. The air thickened, and the ruins seemed to pulse with life—dark, ancient life. Her vision blurred for a moment, and suddenly, she was no longer standing in the clearing. The scene before her morphed, and in the shadows, she saw a massive wolf. Its eyes were glowing crimson, burning with an intensity that seared through her. The wolf was chained, bound in shadow, its massive form hunched low, and yet there was a deep, mournful sadness in its gaze.

"They're red... There's no need for you to get aggressive. Please, take me to Nero, please. We can talk about this, I promise." Her words pierced through the haze of my anger, cutting through the darkness like a ray of light. For a moment, I wavered, torn between the desire for vengeance and the flickering ember of reason within me. But then, with a primal roar that echoed through the depths of my soul, I surrendered to the darkness, allowing it to consume me whole. My vision blurred as the world around me faded into darkness, and I felt the wolf's power surge through me, exhilarating and terrifying all at once.

Lyra's POV Ice-blue eyes pierce the darkness, their intensity making me cringe. I stumble backward, my feet tangling in an unseen root. As I fall, a massive white wolf emerges from the shadows, its pristine fur marred by splatters of crimson. The coppery scent of blood fills my nostrils, growing stronger as the creature approaches, lips curled back to reveal razor-sharp teeth. The hunger radiating from it is palpable. No, not hunger – ravenous, all-consuming starvation.

What has me shivering like I’ve been submerged in a large tub of ice, is the pair of repugnant bright lilacs cripplingly smoldering my very soul into bits. I do recognize this impossibly large wolf with a thick coat of dark fur, glaring at me not in contempt, but in rage for my disobedience once again. ‘It’s Vyin’s wolf...now I’ve gone and done it’ I gulp on nothing, perspiration drenching my body despite the curdling cold as I feel my limbs now sprouting the will to move. AUTHOR'S P.O.V. In the shrouded shadows of the night, a formidable black wolf, with fur as dark as the abyss, prowled stealthily through the underbrush. Its eyes, glowing with a fierce, infernal red, were fixed intently on the men stationed outside the building. Despite its lupine form, it exuded a commanding presence over the armed men in their human guise. The wolf, driven by a singular purpose, was here for one individual – a target it was resolutely determined to eliminate this very night.

The world felt broken. I was holding Fia’s hand so tight my fingers hurt, but I didn’t care. “Don’t let go,” she whispered, her voice shaking. “I won’t,” I promised. “I swear.” Shadow-wolves were everywhere.
