The Duchess Deal Novels & Stories

She asked multiple questions without giving Donald time to answer one. Uncle Billy and Andrea stood at the dinning and stared at the duo. Donald kisses her forehead and hugged her again. "My princess, it was positive. We have three new investors in Franco groups" he announced smiling broadly. Helma yelled in excitement jumping on him again. "You did it. I am so proud of you" she stated smiling.

Dumas was a house hold name in the city. The St. Dumas family owned most of the property in the city so she was not only from old money, she was also a wealthy woman in her own right. I knew right there that she was even more better than Camila and possibly as cruel. I switched off the TV, feeling pissed off all of a sudden. There were questions swirling around in my head. Natalia was a lady that had it all, so why would Damien turn her down? Why was he so secretive? There had to be a compromise to this contract and I chided myself for not reading before I signed.

"No, ace, you were seven when your dad made that deal." Wait what? My dad already planned for my future when I was still young. So even if I become a good daughter to him from the beginning, he will still marry me off to someone, so the scandal is an excuse? "I don't get it, mom. I thought dad did that because of my scandal." Mother smiled. "Your dad said that so you can agree to marry Hudson." Well, it makes sense now why dad made such a decision because he has known the Vasco family for many years now. I don't know much about that family, but I could say that they are good and reputable. Maybe dad just did what he did for the betterment of our family.

Would it be wise to confront him concerning the gossip she had heard in the market that afternoon? The Dowager Duchess had sent her a note saying that the solicitors had agreed to the purchase of whatever they needed for the redecoration as per the instructions of Lord Carlisle and she had been incredibly grateful, to them and to Lord Carlisle too. Beth had been looking forward to returning to the marketplace but this time, attending to her proposed plan of visiting the tailor's shop, and to every minute after. But it had not turned out as she envisaged.

he held up my story, "...stays between us. And your scholarship remains safe." I read the contract. It seemed standard, except for the hours. "Do we have an accord, Miss Lin?" I looked at the fireplace, then back at him. I thought of Milo. I thought of the rent. "Yes," I said. "I'll do it." Adrian smiled. It wasn't a nice smile. It was the smile of a wolf who had just caught a rabbit. "Excellent." He stood up and walked to the heavy oak door of the study. Click.

Just when I thought I might collapse, a deep, clear voice cut through the chaos. “Ten thousand dollars.” The room fell silent. My heart plummeted, and I turned toward the direction of the voice. I couldn’t make out his face in the dim light, but I saw the broad outline of his frame—young, tall, and strong. My mind raced as I tried to process the situation. 'This might not be so bad after all,' I thought desperately, trying to console myself. “Deal,” Victor declared, his voice dripping with greed. Before I could fully grasp what had happened, Victor gestured to one of the strippers beside me. “Take her and get her ready,” he ordered.

Leaving the midwives and the lady in waiting to their miserable fate. ‘Help me,’ The duchess whispered in a raspy voice, ‘Please get it out of me.’ She sobbed weakly as her hands lay limp beside her. Her lady-in-waiting moved closer to her and bent forward to touch her belly. The spot where her hands rested lit up in a bright orange light, and the midwives shrank back in fear and shock. The servant stepped back and, in one command, ordered the midwives to cut through the duchess's abdomen.

He rebuked when he sniffed the paper. “Duchess Calliope, woman fluent in eight languages and comes from a noble house situated in the hills of Milena. Her family is notorious for possessing a numerous army. One who may speak to her, agrees to be charmed by her…” He opened the third one. “Lady Diene…” “Baroness Itzel…” “Princess Arlet…” "Lady Seline..." “Duchess Katrina…” He read her seven letters and finally turned to her with a baffled expression on his face.

But reality can’t just be beaten with denial. “Basing on your reaction, I am presuming you already understand the situation,” Duchess Carlotta started. “They were the August’s twin brothers—Evander and Evandel. And one of them would be your future husband. It won’t be too long now, my dear. Don’t get too excited,” she intentionally jested knowing she was not bit happy about it. ‘That’s it, poor child. Fate can sometimes be cruel. Not every time that you are at the top,’ the wicked duchess thought and proceeded inside.
