The German Midwife Novels & Stories

Soon the midwife showed up with showed up with her assistant. She quickly brought out her Fetal scope. “ can you please lay on your back,” the middle aged lady said as she wore her gloves. The assistant helped me on my back. “Dave, pass me the screen,” she commanded, he immediately pulled the screen around me, I was left alone with the midwives. She pulled my dress up only to expose my belly, she pressed hard all over it, and put the fetal scope on my belly and listened. When she was done, she said.

"She's going to be more than enough." She went back to her work. I sat in the bed in the Luna chambers with the specific exhausted clarity of someone who had done the hardest thing and was sitting in the aftermath of it, and I thought about a twenty-nine-year-old midwife at the founder house almost seventy years ago, and a sixteen-hour birth, and a woman named Lirien who had been the finest catch of Helga's career. And her daughter. And her daughter's daughter. All of us here. The line had not ended.

I stood by the bedside with the small baby bag I managed to get after working part-time for those rich humans that treated me like shit, We arrived at the small infirmary in no time and I held on to the rod as we waited for the woman, the old midwife that's specialised in bringing forth a child to appear. She was a rogue nurse in her fifties. She is well experienced and everyone swarmed her place, so I have got nothing to worry about, I bit my lips breathlessly assuming myself. I winced as my waist down to my leg was almost tearing up from the constant pain that never goes down.

That was therapeutic and enough to get my mind over what had happened in the last twenty-four hours, especially what Henry had now carved into my mind about us being drawn to each other. "Oh my poor babies. How I missed you both so much." I said, leaning down to kiss them on the forehead for the umpteenth time. I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if Chrysantha had taken them away from me. My only light in this dark world. "My lady!" A familiar voice called from the door. I turned to see the midwife who had been helping me tend to my babies. She was an elderly woman who was far more knowledgeable than me in taking care of babies. What would I have done without her?

" During the birthing process of the woman you are about to assist, I'll be waiting by the window at the rear of the room. Simply pass me over to the firstborn pup. Don't worry, my scent won't alert anyone." The midwife is shocked by the audacious offer, but as she prepares to decline it, she sees the hardness in the other woman's eyes. An evil glow shoots out, causing her legs to falter. “This is your only option for survival, at least if you value your life,” it sounded croaky, like a witch. The midwife grabs the suitcase and bobs her head in terror. “Above all, don't try any stunts. I am well-equipped to handle in case you act foolishly and take unnecessary risks."

She could feel her breath leave her body gradually, without any doubt that she would not survive it. "Hold your child," one of the midwives said, before passing her child unto her. They wanted to make sure she had least got the chance to hold her baby, before they carried out the mission that given to them. Immediately Heidi collected the baby that was still covered in sticky fluid and blood from the midwife, she inserted her mouth into her breathless and tiny baby mouth and poured out something into him.

Tilda came out of the room with a deathly pale face. The answer from another servant made her sigh in annoyance. Midwives for members of the royal family are those who have been chosen by the palace doctor and must stay in the palace for five days before the wife gives birth. But since it was a week before the due date, the midwife was still living outside the palace. Luckily they live in the capital, so it's still close to the palace. Fuschia's coachman has picked up the midwife in Fuschia's luxury horse-drawn carriage in the hope that they can arrive sooner.

She's so stunning just like her mother. “ What shall we name her?” I asked my wife with a smile. There was no response. I frowned and looked down to wife. Only to see her eyes still open looking on the distance. “ Lorinda?” No response again. The midwife had a sad expression her face. “I'm sorry sire. She's gone. ” she told me. “No! You're talking nonsense. She just spoke right now!” The one elderly midwife spoke as well. “It was a miracle that she lasted that long. Sears don't carry children to full term neither do they birth a live child or live too.”

"You are lying." "I’m not lying!" Lena chokes out, voice shredded from coughing. "I swear on my life, I’m not—" "Child," the midwife cuts in with cold certainty. "You cannot fool me. My senses are sharper than your destiny. And your destiny shows me a pathological liar." "Leenie," Lena turns to me, panic flashing in her tear‑glossed eyes. "Get this crazy woman away from me. I need a doctor. A real doctor!"

LUCAS. “The maternity ward can be a bit noisy. But don’t worry, I’m sure the mothers will feel better upon seeing your handsome face, Mr Hart,” an elderly woman who seemed to be in her early fifties said, a warm smile on her face. She was the midwife in charge of the maternity ward, and she was showing me the ropes of how things worked around here. I wasn’t a professional, so I was just going to help out with light duties to support the medical staff and the expectant mothers.
