Her Graceful War Song

Her Graceful War Song

Sliding some silver coins into their hands, she lowered her voice and said, "Let's just say what needs to be said and keep the rest to ourselves." After finishing his conversation with Barrett, the old physician suddenly remembered that Viola was in her second marriage. Barrett's shocked expression earlier clearly indicated he was unaware of the miscarriage. It must have happened during her first marriage. He had a sense of medical ethics, and although he could have refused the money, he knew that if he did, they might not feel at ease. So, he simply thanked Zoey and assured her that she didn't need to worry. The midwife shared the same sentiments. To have a good reputation in her line of wo

I love reading but choosy, and this book caught my attention as the author's thought was put into writing. It portrayed the life of normal and those in power clearly. It contains political, military, monarchial, business, education, martial arts, humanitarian, judicial aspects that I can relate to.

I like how this novel is now evolving into an interesting Sherlock Holmes case after the much-needed testimonies of Caden, Barett, Viola and Violet in particular... And I don't understand people's lack of patience, I really don't... for my part I can't wait to see what the author has in store for us

Banished By The Alpha King:Claimed By The Cursed Lycan Beast

Banished By The Alpha King:Claimed By The Cursed Lycan Beast

"Get Gwen! Now!" The midwives were already waiting in our chambers, the ones I had personally chosen for their skill and their calm demeanors. They had delivered dozens of babies in the Lycan Kingdom, and they had assured me that everything would go smoothly. But nothing could have prepared me for the reality of watching Elara in pain. I laid her on the bed. She was already panting, her face beaded with sweat. Her gown clung to her damp skin, and her hands were clenched into fists at her sides.

I am already hooked already by the introduction. I hope this is a completed story. i I am not one to complain, becuz authors need time with their family or need a break to rest. Werewolf stories are my all time favorite stories to read.

Just finished the book, caught off guard by the whole science angle and the seemingly sudden relationship between the Betas that wasn't supported throughout the story. Other than those two areas, excellent writing and imagery. Love the "unexpected" helper's redemption. Won't read the sequel.

Aria

Aria

Aria’s eyes filled with tears. The midwife smiled gently. “And I would do the same.” Aria’s breath caught. “No.” But the ice had already begun spreading across the midwife’s neck. Her voice was growing weaker. “You gave me a life,” Aria whispered desperately. “You raised me.” “You were my life,” the midwife replied softly. Her arms tightened around Aria one last time. “Even if I never gave birth to you… you were always my child.” The cold reached her heart completely.

He called me fat....I stole his uncle

He called me fat....I stole his uncle

The maid knocked and opened the door. Denver’s mother sat upright, composed as always. Beside her stood an older woman with kind but observant eyes. “Come in, Selena,” she said calmly. I stepped forward and bowed my head. “Good morning.” “This is the pack’s midwife,” she continued. “She will examine you.” My breath caught, but I forced myself to nod. “Yes, ma’am.” The midwife approached gently. “Relax, child,” she said softly. I tried. Still, my shoulders remained tense as she checked my pulse, my stomach, and asked quiet questions about my health. Each touch reminded me why I was here. Not as a guest. Not as a lover.

Rebirth of The Biker Alpha's Bride

Rebirth of The Biker Alpha's Bride

“The only thing you can do right now is calm down and pray to the Goddess.” I laughed bitterly. Pray? The Goddess and I had not exactly been on good terms for years. But still… I forced myself to pray internally. Please let her survive this. Please…. Suddenly, the bedroom doors swung open and the midwife hurried out looking visibly stressed. Immediately, I strode toward her. “What happened?” The older woman pressed a hand to her forehead like they throbbed. “The delivery is becoming more difficult than expected.” Fear swirled inside be, but I managed to remain courageous. This was no time for fear but for actions. “What do you mean difficult?”

The Omega's Crown

The Omega's Crown

"She's going to be more than enough." She went back to her work. I sat in the bed in the Luna chambers with the specific exhausted clarity of someone who had done the hardest thing and was sitting in the aftermath of it, and I thought about a twenty-nine-year-old midwife at the founder house almost seventy years ago, and a sixteen-hour birth, and a woman named Lirien who had been the finest catch of Helga's career. And her daughter. And her daughter's daughter. All of us here. The line had not ended.

Fated Mate

Fated Mate

I stood by the bedside with the small baby bag I managed to get after working part-time for those rich humans that treated me like shit, We arrived at the small infirmary in no time and I held on to the rod as we waited for the woman, the old midwife that's specialised in bringing forth a child to appear. She was a rogue nurse in her fifties. She is well experienced and everyone swarmed her place, so I have got nothing to worry about, I bit my lips breathlessly assuming myself. I winced as my waist down to my leg was almost tearing up from the constant pain that never goes down.

The Alpha Who Executed His Luna

The Alpha Who Executed His Luna

That was therapeutic and enough to get my mind over what had happened in the last twenty-four hours, especially what Henry had now carved into my mind about us being drawn to each other. "Oh my poor babies. How I missed you both so much." I said, leaning down to kiss them on the forehead for the umpteenth time. I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if Chrysantha had taken them away from me. My only light in this dark world. "My lady!" A familiar voice called from the door. I turned to see the midwife who had been helping me tend to my babies. She was an elderly woman who was far more knowledgeable than me in taking care of babies. What would I have done without her?

THE REJECTED CHUBBY WIFE, NOW HIS BROTHER'S GODDESS

THE REJECTED CHUBBY WIFE, NOW HIS BROTHER'S GODDESS

I start speaking before we hear a knock at the door " Boss are you in there?" I hear a man ask " Yes, come in Sam" I hear Ralph say before the door opens and a middle aged looking man and an older woman who seems to be in her late 60s walk in. " Boss, the midwife you requested for" Sam says gently pushing the woman forward and I let go of Ralph. " You specialize in assisting women give birth?" He ask " By the grace of God I do, sir" The old lady says simply, lowering her head

The Lycans' Obsession: Chasing Our Rogue Queens

The Lycans' Obsession: Chasing Our Rogue Queens

" During the birthing process of the woman you are about to assist, I'll be waiting by the window at the rear of the room. Simply pass me over to the firstborn pup. Don't worry, my scent won't alert anyone." The midwife is shocked by the audacious offer, but as she prepares to decline it, she sees the hardness in the other woman's eyes. An evil glow shoots out, causing her legs to falter. “This is your only option for survival, at least if you value your life,” it sounded croaky, like a witch. The midwife grabs the suitcase and bobs her head in terror. “Above all, don't try any stunts. I am well-equipped to handle in case you act foolishly and take unnecessary risks."

Frequently Asked Questions

The ending of 'The German Wife' is a poignant blend of redemption and unresolved tension. After years of grappling with her husband's Nazi past and her own complicity, Sofia finally confronts him during the Nuremberg trials. She delivers a public testimony that exposes his crimes but also implicates herself, showing the cost of silence. The novel closes with her fleeing to Argentina, where she lives under an assumed name, forever haunted by whispers of her old life.

What makes the ending powerful is its ambiguity. Sofia never finds peace, but she gains a fragile freedom. Her children, unaware of her history, represent both her escape and her eternal guilt. The last scene shows her burning a letter from her estranged sister—symbolizing the past she can’t outrun. It’s not a tidy resolution but a raw, human one, leaving readers to ponder the weight of survival.
