At the end of it, a single structure loomed, a gothic mansion of dark stone and piercing spires that seemed to swallow the weak moonlight. A tall, iron-wrought gate stood ajar, as if expecting her. With a shiver that had little to do with the cold, she pushed it open. The groan of the hinges was swallowed by the storm. She hurried up the path, her heels clicking on the wet flagstones, and without even knocking, the massive oak door swung inward.

So if their parties were already that fancy, she dreaded to think what a 'Blood Moon Ball' was going to look like. In her head she imagined them pulling up to a grand ancient-looking castle with nightmarish gargoyles that snarled down upon the visitors. The inside would be grand old style gothic, with large towering halls, complete with the grey stone architecture and candelabras. The whole thing looked like something from a classic horror movie, her overactive imagination even adding in the signature lightning flashes behind the towering monstrosity and the spooky mist in the foreground.

The Nightfang estate was a mausoleum of old money and older cruelty. It wasn't a home; it was a statement, a sprawling gothic monstrosity of black stone and sharp angles that clawed at the moonless sky. As our car crunched up the gravel drive, a deep, instinctual fear settled in my bones. This was a place where light went to die.

POV: Maya The Blackwood estate sat hidden in the mountains, three hours north of Blackstone. The road twisted through dense forest until suddenly the trees parted to reveal a gothic mansion that looked like it belonged in a Victorian horror novel. Gray stone walls covered in ivy. Tall windows with heavy curtains. Turrets that reached toward the cloudy sky like accusing fingers. The place radiated old money and older secrets. "This is where your mother grew up?" Jaxon asked from the driver's seat.

The parchment felt comforting beneath my fingers, grounding me in something tangible while the shadows outside the windows seemed to pulse and stretch, threatening to reach inside. The room itself was older than I could have imagined. Gothic arches rose overhead, carved with faint runes that shimmered as if alive. The windows were tall and narrow, letting in slivers of moonlight still lingering from dawn. The air smelled faintly of candle wax, parchment, and a whisper of something… metallic. Something alive. I ignored it, setting my jaw and trying to focus on the task at hand.

Samael said in a mocking tone. Welcome back. I opened my eyes to a pitch-black world devoid of any sound or signs of life. Glancing to my left, my heart skipped a beat. There stood an enormous, black castle, emanating a gothic and gloomy aura. Its towering spires reached for the sky, with bats swirling around the highest points. It was the epitome of a haunted house, a place one would expect to find in Satan's realm. A perpetual mist seemed to envelop the surroundings, adding to the eerie and terrifying atmosphere.

The high ceiling hung over my head, adding to the gloomy feel of this place. I looked down at the ground and discovered a slate floor surface that led to a large double door. When I looked up at the windows, my eyes caught the shadows of the stained glass that adorned the walls. I was in some kind of church or rather a long-abandoned gothic building. Since everything looked worn down and neglected, it added to the creepy atmosphere.

It would be a shame if I end up falling from this death bridge after everything I've been through. We finally approached the other side. Thick trees surrounded us once again as we pushed further into the forest. A gothic building comes into my sight. Once closer to It, i let out a terrified gasp. It towered over I and Asa, making our height seem insignificant in the ground. Dark cobblestone was used to build it and from the looks of things, it wasn't built in this century. I whipped my head to face Asa when I noticed she was gone. My eyes squinted slightly and my mouth hanged open.

When they crossed the street, a tiptoeing boy greeted them with the flashiest smile she's ever seen, cherry lollipop sticking out of his mouth, "Gooood morning, captain! Gooood morning, ma- oh." Aster has no words for what she felt when their eyes first met. All the noises of the world became muffled, incoherent static, slowly fading into nothingness. Her surroundings gradually became blurry until all she could see was the insufferable golden-haired boy. It was electric. It was a rush of heat wave slowly making its way up from her chest, to the tips of her ears and to her head, effectively shutting down her every thought in mere seconds.
