Esme's POV It had been over a week since I woke up. I suffered second degree burns in different parts of my body, my back was mostly affected but they've all healed completely. My ability to heal really quickly stunned the doctor and she said not to worry about the scars because they would smoothen over time. She also provided an ointment made with a rare herb which would help with the discoloration.

Pre-awakening healers are just skilled at creating medicines, but once our major powers awaken, we can heal anyone with a single touch or command, depending on how huge our awakenings are.

“Being near him… I imagine it’s complicated.” I let out a dry laugh, shaking my head. “Complicated is an understatement.” She doesn’t press me, doesn’t push for answers I’m not ready to give. Instead, she says something that lodges itself deep in my chest. “Healing doesn’t mean absence of feeling, Alpha.
