He hasn't given me a satisfactory answer, but he has answered all my questions in one breath, the questions I thought were many weren't that way. I still felt he wasn’t okay, if I leave he would break down in tears again, if I leave he would have to curl up and have many nasty thoughts again.

She tightened her grip on the letter. Part of her wanted to throw it away. Another part desperately needed to know what it said. The second part won. Emma wiped her eyes and continued reading.
