Cassandra’s POV The sun moved across the sky, and the air inside the warehouse grew hotter, thicker with dust. I drank water in small sips, careful not to let my throat dry out because I needed my voice. I needed to speak to officers, to citizens, to my father, to anyone who needed direction. I was speaking when one of the ministers approached. I recognised him immediately. He wasn’t one of the loud ones in court who shouted about honour and monarchy. He was one of the quieter ones. And now I’m getting a librarian fantasy I can only hope she’ll someday fulfill. “Cass, the brain-dead boy has arrived.” Mrs. Summers announced. Way to blow up my spot, Mrs. Summers. I was enjoying stealthy watching her studying without her knowing. Cassidy’s head lifted from the textbook open in her lap. Those emerald eyes looking bigger behind her glasses locked on me. ~Cassandra’s Pov~ I was hurling all my clothes from the wardrobe into the luggage when I was done, I zipped them and pulled them up and everything else that I was gonna need and I sauntered out of the door shutting the door behind me. I took them down the stairs, to the large living room downstairs and hopefully out through the front door. But they were there, occupying the seats in the room. They weren’t there when I came in. I shrugged my shoulders, I had no plan on talking with either of them, so I made my way to the door.

There was an extra step, or a twerk, as she moved around. "Good afternoon, dear housewife," I called out theatrically, gauging her reaction. "Good day, stud," Cass said with a big smile, looking up and giving me a wink. She didn't even correct me calling her a wife. Just being her happy old Cassandra. "How was your day?" Cass asked. "Oh, it was mighty productive. I ran a lot of books, and my people seemed to know their business. Though, I could swear something was awry with one of the offices. This damn ruckus kept interrupting my workflow, damndest!"

Ignoring his question, I focused on the new message on my screen. 1917xxxxxxx: Good evening, Mr. Alexavier. It’s me, Cassandra. I know it’s been two weeks since I caused trouble, but I’ve only just mustered the courage to reach out. I’m sorry for what happened that night and hope I didn’t inconvenience you.
