She pulled on a simple sundress and sandals, letting her damp hair air dry. She needed to see Karen, to discuss their next move against Chad. Grabbing her phone and bag, Cassandra headed out, locking the door behind her. The city was alive with activity as she walked to their pre-arranged meeting spot - an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. As she approached the entrance, Cassandra heard raised voices. Her heart pounded in her chest as she crept closer, listening.

Evelyn leaned into me, her head resting on my shoulder. I turned to Cassandra. “And I can’t think of a better doctor than Cassandra to help us.” Evelyn’s smile vanished. “What? After what she did, you trust her?” I ignored her, watching Cassandra’s face. I wanted to see it—the same agony that tore through me when I saw her with Luke. He said looking at the beautiful lady standing by his office door. Hearing his approving voice, Cassandra walked into the office with her both hands bent backwards. She was wearing black blazers above her white crop top. Her long legs were covered by black leggings and her hair was put in a ponytail leaving some baby hairs falling on her forehead. 'Simple yet elegant.' Tobias thought of her outfit. While she neared the table which Tobias was leaning on, she stopped on her tracks and looked at him with her golden brown eyes. She wanted to tell him something but the respect she has for him was making it so difficult to say her thoughts aloud.

Then I hurriedly go to the bathroom and take a shower. Damn! However, against all expectations, she was also a rich heiress that gave up the comfort and luxury of the city to bring to life her dream library. Bree got close to the woman during her many trips to the village and was quite familiar with the beautiful building that housed Lady Cassie’s collection. She was called a Lady because of her rich background, but she held nothing of the arrogance of rich city-folk. Brianna knew she could go to her to find what she needed. When she asked for it, her voice was weak and frail, and Cassie almost cried feeling her pain.

CHAPTER 24 Cassandra sat at her desk, her fingers flipping through a stack of files, her focus fixed on a chilling case: the death of Michael Foster. The more she read, the clearer the connection became between the case and Antonio Franches, her contract husband. Her brow furrowed as she jotted down key points, trying to piece together how Foster’s mysterious death might tie into Antonio’s vast empire. The air around her felt heavy, charged with both curiosity and unease.
