The Mouse That Roared Book Novels & Stories

Occasionally we would hear yelps and loud growls and I just hoped over and over those yelps didn’t come from father or Leo. “Mum…. Listen!”. I whispered with alert as I suddenly sat up straight, straining my ears to hear. “What? What was it?” She whispered back nervously. “A howl, I’m sure I heard it!”. “I didn’t hear anything, Raven, are you sure?” “I know I heard it!”. I told her as I stood from my chair and quickly dashed over to the door. “Wait!” Mother stopped me, slamming her hand on the door so I couldn’t open it.

Cain. The two wolves circled. No growling. No wasted breath. Just the heavy scent of musk and the promise of a kill. The helicopter sat behind them, blades slicing the moonlight. Rook jumped. Cain was faster. He slipped the strike and buried his teeth in Rook’s shoulder. I heard the collarbone snap. One heavy blow from Cain’s paw finished it. Rook went down hard. I turned away. Austin and Ravenna were a blur of gray and reddish-brown, tearing through the last of the line. I looked past the teeth and the fur.

I grunted. After hours of research, I was about to give up and turn in for the night when something caught my eye. A small blue-black book peeped from the corner behind the other book on the shelf. It looked a little older than the other books. I slipped it out and opened the first page. The first three words I saw were “THE RAVEN WOLVES.” My wolf and I howled for joy because we had been searching for hours for this tiny book. I opened the next page and started reading through it.

I put up three fingers pointing at each of three men individually to investigate the tunnel that grandmother and I would not be going down. Grandmother, one warrior, and I head to the right, while the other three warriors go straight. The walk down the new corridor seems more like a maze, it turns right then left, shocking us with a creature that jumps out spitting fire. I conjured up a fireball in retaliation. However, my grandmother puts her hand on my arm mind-linking me and the warrior. It is just an illusion. We continue to walk forward through the tunnels of fright mares. Once we have saved the children, we can make it into a Halloween extravaganza.

Katherine told him with a straight face. Karl looked at her horrified by her last words before she began laughing. “I am joking about the human meat, you need to have seen your face. C’mon that’s not part of what we eat, we like to hunt but only on the full moon and sometimes we cannot differentiate animals and humans when our thirst for meat is high, that is where the curse part comes in. We break every bones in our body, all two hundred and six which is very excruciating.” “Wow, you are not kidding about breaking bones, I don’t think I want to break my bones just yet. Wait so does that mean Sandra also….”

My body curled instinctively, shaking, senses screaming too loud, too much. I couldn’t think. Couldn’t fight. Could barely breathe. The moon burned white-hot behind my eyes. I heard them closing in— And then— A roar split the forest. Not human. Not rogue. A massive grey shape exploded from the trees like a living storm. The first rogue didn’t even scream—his body snapped under crushing jaws, thrown aside like broken prey. Another turned to run and never made it three steps before claws ripped through his back. Blood sprayed. The wolf moved with terrifying precision.

His parents could literally see an invisible tail wagging behind him, to their dismay. Shadow’s chest rose and inflated before a deep deafening roar echoed throughout the entire residence. ROAR!!! The mansion was slightly shaken, the leaves rustling dangerously stronger than it was supposed to. Salahuddin and Siti’s stomachs churned, and toes curled. There’s something unexplainable about the roar. There’s a lesson where and they wouldn’t gonna be the one to figure it out. The roar was telling them something but they didn’t know what. Yet. A few moments later, a group of fierce birds landed near the windowsill, cawking or chirping in their own language.

I suppose he had never heard of my species either, and I must've looked very strange to him. But when our eyes met, I felt something I had never felt before in my life. I was drawn to him in a way that I hadn’t sensed with any other male in all my years. It was mystical, like I could stare directly into the soul of this man and I recognized him as part of myself.” Excerpt from “Running with wolves.” ➳ Author’s note 🐾 Hi lovelies! His eyes are wide and he looks at a loss for words, like he can't believe what just happened. The crow caws again, and I spin around, waiting for another attack. Todd steps in front of me. The crow studies us with a black, beady eye. He hops to the edge of the table, opens his beak, and caws shrilly again. Todd lobs the book across the room. The book clips the crow, and it takes to the air, flying back into the bathroom and out an open window, disappearing into the night.

the man said but at that moment Mufasa growled deeply. "Roooooooar..." The hall trembled slightly under the lion's roar.
