"Harkan," Rowan said, pulling the old wolf aside. "We need to set a watch. Around the perimeter of the valley. Twenty-four hours a day."
Harkan blinked. "A watch? For what? The Council is gone. The Void is gone. There isn't a predator for miles."
"The predators don't live in the forest anymore," Rowan said. "They live in the stars. And they’re looking for their watch."
He showed Harkan the device. The old wolf’s eyes went wide. He touched the shattered glass, and for a second, a blue spark jumped from the watch to his finger.
