Leonida’s eyes met hers, blazing like twin suns, and in their ancient fire Alice saw hope, and grief, and endless faith.
"Thank you, Great Nana," Alice breathed, her voice cracking under the weight of emotion. "Now I know where I must go."
Leonida’s face softened.
"I trust you," she said, her form already beginning to dissolve, as though the wind had claimed her.
"Set your heart in order... the rest will follow."
Her final words floated like music across a widening distance. "Make the past perfect, Alice. You were born for this."
