I felt a surge of awe and fear as the guard escorted me inside the grand estate, the imposing doors closing behind me with a resounding thud. I had never seen such wealth and splendor in my life. The entrance hall was lit by intricate chandeliers that cast a warm, golden glow on the marble floors, but something was unsettling in the air, a sense of power and secrets that made me shiver. He dragged me to the door and rang the bell. A butler opened the door and greeted him with a nod. "Good afternoon, sir. You must be here to deliver the package." "Yes, I am," the guard said. "Where do you want me to put it?"

Pearl had been looking at Tom from the start as well. She forgot her purpose for coming and did not even hear what Ruth was saying. Her mouth was slightly opened, and obsession filled her eyes. After Ruth explained the situation concisely, she turned around and saw Pearl’s expression. She smiled and said, “Wipe your drool.” Pearl subconsciously wiped the corner of her mouth. Then, she immediately came back to her senses and glared at Ruth.

He pouted to her. "My child...tell me what the hell is going on here," Pearl said gently to the crying man. "I don't know where to start and I don't know what to do next," he said sadly. "Start at the beginning and tell me everything, boy," Pearl said gently but with steel in her eyes. She knew she had been feeling like something was up. She was never wrong on these things. It just pissed her off that she didn't trust her gut.

the girl frowned. “When the day comes,” he began. “And you’ll have to give away your pearl, then will you give it to me?” The girl slid forward to block his view of the sky. Her amber eyes met his deep blue ones, her hair curtaining them, hiding their faces. “What?” She whispered. She wanted to hear it again. Am I dreaming? She wondered. The boy tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. “When the day comes for you to give your pearl away, I want to be the one to receive it,” he said boldly. “Me. And no one else.”

Pearl When I woke up, I wasn't in the cave. I was in a well lit room and I felt something comfy beneath me, it was a bed. Looking around, the room seemed familiar and soon I realized that I was in the infirmary. "Pearl? How do you feel now? You slept for so long." A familiar voice said. Hardin's face came into view. He was hovering over me and looking intently at me. "Why am I in the infirmary? You should have brought me here in the first place," I said coldly, looking away from him.

The clear crystal that was attached to it acted like a prism amidst the lighting from the myriad of fallen lamps that surrounded them. “He didn’t know what material to make the chain of. Normally it would be silver, but he wasn’t sure if you could tolerate it, so he went with platinum.” “I owe him,” Jasper said in a soft voice as he slid the chain over his neck. A small jolt of energy consumed his body almost immediately. Lila smiled as she asked, “Did you feel it?” When he nodded, she pulled out a more delicate looking chain for herself and slid it over her head. “Wow,” she softly whispered. “I’ll never grow tired of the wonder of magic.”

“People you don’t want to meet. People who don’t stop until they get what they want.” A chill crept down my arms. “Pack hunters?” I whispered. “Worse.” And when he opened his eyes again, the clarity in them made something inside me shiver. “You’re Pearl,” he said suddenly. My breath caught. I froze halfway through tying the bandage. “How do you know my name?” He hesitated. I saw it in the way his gaze slid away for half a second. “I heard them talking,” he said. “Someone was looking for you too.”

Pearl turned toward the silent corridor, drew a steady breath, and took her first step across the threshold. The instant her foot touched the polished stone, the chamber behind her vanished as though it had never existed.
