Pearl turned toward the silent corridor, drew a steady breath, and took her first step across the threshold. The instant her foot touched the polished stone, the chamber behind her vanished as though it had never existed.

“At first you argued with the alpha fiercely it was surprising because you had never done it before, then you seemed... resigned. But then, as the days passed, you became quieter, more withdrawn. You stopped smiling. Stopped talking to anyone.” "You barely ate" I swallowed hard, my throat tightening. “Go on.” “One day,” Pearl continued, “ You asked me to fetch you bush weed seeds. You said they were for tea, but…” She trailed off, her voice trembling. “The doctor said you took them. That you swallowed them before walking into the sea.” “She... she tried to kill herself,” I murmured,but Pearl was too dazed to hear my mistake. She was staring at the table unseeing. “I didn't know –" she stamme

“Then we will listen. And we will speak calmly.” Pearl looked away, her voice dropping. “I keep thinking of that red convoy. The guards. The way they moved. This is not a normal man.” “I know,” Ava said softly. “But hiding will not help.” Pearl nodded slowly. “I will go.” That night, Pearl barely slept. Every small sound made her sit up. She thought of Jay’s frightened face. She thought of the words scratched on the door. She thought of all the stories she had heard about rich men and their anger.

The pearl dissolved instantly. Mark noticed her movements and immediately raised his voice. “What are you doing?” *************

He smiled at me, but I could see the worry on his face. He closed his eyes, focusing on the pearl. I watched him closely, waiting for something to happen. I was so damn nervous that my forehead was starting to sweat. Finally, after what felt like a million years, the pearl began to glow in his hand. It glowed so brightly like a small sun. It was blinding and in a flash it encompassed us both and then disappeared. "Does that mean it worked?" I asked him. "Yes, my little sun. It worked."

I’m going to do everything to help make this happen and put all this misery behind us. After what feels like forever, Eva comes out with the same terrified look in her eyes, and I walk up to her and hold her. A moment later, the elders come out with the same indecipherable expressions and walk up to us. They hand me the pearl and walk toward the door, and before they even exit the door, Eva takes my hand and opens it. The pearl is still red, which means she’s still not pregnant. Tears immediately stream down her cheeks, and my heart hits rock bottom as I pull her into my arms, feeling helpless. I pick her up and take her to bed while whispering comforting words.

REIGN “One more finger.” I ordered while lighting my cigarette. One of my men placed the trembling man’s left hand on the table and another quickly chopped off his pinky finger, equalizing the two hands. The unfortunate man let out a loud scream as he clutched his hand close to his chest. “So,” I blew out the smoke, “where's my truck?” I asked and the man shook in fear, sweat drenched his body and his lips trembled. “I don’t..”

His voice was low and chilly. Pearl tried to open her eyes, her head was throbbing and she felt dizzy. She tried to open them again but her eyelids felt heavy. Her eyes fluttered once again and she finally opened them. Pearl was shocked to see so many people before her. She couldn't understand what was happening, she looked around the room and her heart sank. Where was she? She remembered running for the door. She thought it was him but it was not. Him. The reminder of him brought tears to her eyes again but she held them back, now was not the time to cry. She has to figure out where she was and who was behind it. She knew she was kidnapped.

Overjoyed, I lunged forward and snatched it up. Golden, smooth, and perfectly round, the pearl looked like a sacred jewel veiled in a faint shimmering haze, untouched by even the slightest trace of dirt. I rinsed the pearl clean, sealed it inside the transparent pouch I’d prepared beforehand, and hung it proudly around my neck. Then I strutted all the way to the chapel. Every person I passed got an eyeful of it. “See? The golden pearl I was born with isn’t black at all!!!” Watching the shock spread across everyone’s faces as the truth finally dawned on them filled me with indescribable satisfaction.

Theon, and several other Nagas were far above, rodents… the insects in the ground crawling around. The whispering coolness of something deep beneath me called to me, the sound of the ocean and the smell of it invaded my senses. My heart skipped a beat when I realised what it must be. The pearl! I stood up, knowing I still needed to tread carefully as I hurried down, letting the pearl guide me to it. The path became darker until even I was unable to see, it was strange, almost as if there was nothing at all to see.
