Until she heard someone else humming it back, from outside the cell. And she knew then. They were inside her memories now. Watching. Searching. Volgrin came again the next day. He didn’t bring the bowl. He brought a blade. He didn’t raise it to her. He set it beside her shackles and sat in the corner of the cell. “You are not a prisoner,” he said. “You are a door.” “What does that mean?” she whispered. He smiled. “It means when the right words are spoken, you open.” And then he left.

We walked through the prison towards our starting room as discreetly as possible, and as we approached our destination, Poppy spoke up. "Ok so, plan is we pop in there, say we're sorry, free the dude, feed him, become best friends, right?" I gave her a shrug in response, as we arrived at the door we came out of yesterday. When I went to open it though, I noticed something. "Uh...Poppy...the door's locked." I said, concern growing inside of me for Ceáser's safety. "Locked? How's that possible?" Poppy asked, while I noticed something else on the door. It was a piece of paper hanging off of the door handle. Poppy and I exchanged glances before reading what was on the paper.

_________________ They threw me in like I was nothing. The reinforced steel door clanged shut behind me. Darkness swallowed the room whole. A motion sensor light flickered above, buzzing weakly, casting shadows across concrete walls and rusted steel bars. This wasn’t a medieval pit , it was a modern prison cell buried beneath the estate. A panic room repurposed for punishment. No cameras. No sound. Just rot. My wrists were zip-tied. My skin burned with fever. Every movement felt like fire beneath my flesh. My stomach twisted with hunger. It had forgotten what full felt like.

Athena's face was contorted with a mixture of emotions as the two guards held her arms tightly, their handcuffs causing some pain in her wrists. She glanced toward the guard posted at the door, trying to appear composed, but inside, her heart was racing, and her mind was flooded with thoughts as she scanned the hallway. The mechanical sound of the door echoed through the corridor, and she felt a faint vibration on the floor as the heavy metal door slowly opened. As they continued to walk forward, all the inmates and some guards stared at her with fierce gazes, making Athena feel as if their eyes were melting her body. Inclining a metal designed as a thick old book, a hidden door opened which made the General's smile widen. Walking inside it, the General is softly humming - it's as if that he was happy with the current situation. Marching downstairs, the pathway became quite dark and the officer's humming echoed inside the place. Not long before, he reached his destination. The room was filled with prison cells. Two of them are occupied. One was a man, wearing crumpled business attire, while on the other cell was a woman, tied in her feet using metal chains. "My, my, look at these little creatures, how are you doing?" The General asked both of them while lightly hitting the metal bars with his metal baton.

I should have bought myself time with that. The doors are not ordinary, I can tell with just a touch. They are made of the same reinforced metal that works against supernaturals. It gets stronger with increasing resistance so I pray it will hold him for a while, maybe the entire night. Done with that, I hurry to the initial door and kick it open. A thump on the other door makes me jump and I look to find a small dent on the door. Fuck! I hurry inside and there I find the prisoners. The sight is startling. All of them are awake and in the grip of the full moon, snarling and frothing at the mouth with the need to kill. The chains holding them up look precarious from here and I press myself aga

I titled my head to the side, looking these men up and down. “You have five seconds to open this door, or I throw you in it,” I threaten. Well, these doors were definitely not made to keep a shifter out. I think that as I watch the guards body knock through the door. The other stood idly by, not wanting to share the same fate. I stepped in, and sure enough three of the prisoners that were rescued last night, were in these electrical cells. There are light blue beams blocking the individual doors. I put a finger out, and feel the buzz of energy. If they try to escape, they are toast. Literally speaking. I looked around, not seeing Hannah’s face.

I ran towards the windows in a desperate attempt to taste any kind of freedom. Latched. Blocked. Every path, every shadowed turn, every forgotten door… barred. I froze. This wasn’t protection or a precaution. It was a prison. Oh, there were no chains or magic cells or keys jingling at a guard’s hip. But it was a prison. A fancy one, but it was a prison all the same. I turned, slowly, until I knocked on my door and a guard’s voice filtered in through the door. “Yes, my Lady?”

It was an awfully quiet night, and that was never a good thing. Then, a realization hit him. “How is the condition of the prison?” He tried to contact those responsible for the prison security, but his mind link met with no response. Serenity jumped in her place, startled by the chaos occurring outside. The thick door blocked her from seeing what was happening out there. The door was being constantly attacked, probably in hopes of crashing it down. However, although the wooden door seemed flimsy, it seemed to be strongly enforced. Regardless of how much they banged outside, it did not leave a dent on the surface.

It’s another corridor that leads to a stone staircase. We walk down the steps and come to another door. This place is a maze. She opens the door and the sounds of screams and shouts echo around us. Each cell is made of what looks like glass. You can see what each prisoner is doing. They are all in red scrubs, either sitting on their cots or leaning against the glass, watching who has just entered their home. When they see Rebel some step back. The fear in their eyes is evident. “Welcome to our prison. This is where our prisoners are held before we either take them through there or to another part of the mansion.” She points to a black door.
