My thoughts twist again to my father. He knew I was a Shadow Warrior, and I haven't quite forgiven him for never confessing the truth. After reading Nalista's history, I understand that females don't necessarily change to their Beast like the men do, and there was no way my father or mother could have known I was a shifting female. And more weight falls on my mother's shoulders for raising me vegan. She knew it could hold back the change. Even Nalista mentioned it in her books. It was a common practice on the home planet. The females did not want their daughters turning as volatile as the male Warriors.

He picked another flower, “is just turn.” Enough talk, Neeri growled, forcing the shift. She wanted to run, smell the fresh air. Lillah screeched, falling to her knees. Skin began to stretch. Bones began to snap. “Lillah, calm down, push the pain to one side and just step out of the way, let Neeri take your place.” Gaz had seen many a shift. Alphas’ were fast; they tore through their own skin in an instant. The majority of the pack experienced a shift that took a couple of seconds; clothes ripped, a few bones broke and then they were in their other form but Omega’s experienced a slow and torturous shift. It could take minutes.

Glowing where there was darkness, lighting the way when needed. Over time, their roles changed, mixed, and warped. The people changed as well. The animals they once admired integrated with their souls. Their souls, being tied to the moon, changed once a month when she was at her most robust. Some changed to felines, others canines, then there were reptiles and primates. No two people were the same. Families of four could have one of each shifting animal. The Sun God became enraged. The people began to solely worship the Moon Goddess, much to her dismay. No matter how many times she spoke with the shifters they didn’t heed her words.

Werewolves and weretigers battled against werebears. Finally, all the fighting has stopped. For the past hundred years, witches ruled over shapeshifters. They hated it. Together, the shapeshifters warred against the witches. They won, and now the witches were the minority, and the shapeshifters returned to the majority. But then, the werebears so full of greed, decided they wanted to control all the shapeshifters. Too bad for them. After finally tasting the sweetness of freedom, he wasn’t having it. I united my pack with others and led us to victory, gaining the nickname, Conqueror.

I had witnessed the pain and confusion that consumed her, and my presence had eased her journey. But this time, with the collective support of the ancient shifters, Zarah and Xena emerged from their transformation with a newfound strength and grace. They navigated the challenges with unwavering determination, their spirits soaring amidst the trials they faced. I said. His gaze held mine for a second too long. “If that’s what you want to believe,” he replied. That didn’t help. Before I could say anything else, I pushed the feeling down and focused on something else. Something important. “The shapeshifters,” I said. “What do we do about them?” His expression shifted slightly, the calm returning fully. “We won’t do anything yet,” he said. “We have to lay low.” “That’s it?” I frowned. “We just… wait?”

Two such evolutions began to override the others, and this was the beginning of our demise, though we knew it not at the time. While always in touch with our bestial natures, some chose to embrace it. Shapeshifters, who had previously had the talent to shift into all animal forms, began to shift into individual animals. They chose specific creatures exclusively: the canines, the felines, and other creatures. This faction embraced the environment and nature, taking on the characteristics of their host animals in themselves and living with their dual nature. These beings stayed close to their brethren though and were respected in kind.
