The Shattered Vale stretched before them, a scarred plain of ruined villages, blackened trees, and rivers turned to molten veins. The wind carried the smell of ash, blood, and smoke, a bitter reminder of Malakar’s cruelty. Ashenrealm’s army had gathered at the Spire’s edge, soldiers lined in rigid formation, banners flapping in the acrid air. Magic and fire intertwined in the sky, flickering with anticipation.

Orion stood beside the central table. Liam had already covered half of it with ancient books. Wesley stood beside me. Chloe and Lucien watched in silence. Astra raised the crystal seed. Three dark lights appeared within it. "The sealed realms have awakened." Liam frowned. "Three?" Astra nodded. "They are the realms that rejected the Origin's new balance." Orion looked toward me. "Do we know anything about them?" Astra touched the first dark light. A vision appeared. A vast kingdom covered in silver mirrors.

“It’s a tether to the timelines that were never meant to converge. Echoes of realities that refused to collapse. And now… they’re breaking through.” Evryn felt a coldness settle in her chest. “If this is true, it means the convergence wasn’t the final merge,” she said. “It was the first.” Aurex’s voice darkened. “And those echoes… they could be corrupted. Untethered from reality, with no consequence.” Elara nodded. “I’ve seen one already. A figure calling himself The Shard. He exists in fragments—across every broken outcome. And he wants the Core... or what’s left of it.”

Different shifter breeds usually stay away from each other as each kingdom has its own set of laws. This is how it has been since the demise of the human race 250 years ago. Once humans had all but become extinct due to disease and their bodies' weaknesses, the shifters took over, splitting the realm into what used to be 6 kingdoms. Now only 4 remained and were separated, no longer working together under one rule but divided. The humans, although depleted in numbers, still managed to survive and live in their own territories but were ruled by whichever kingdom they lived in. Some lived outside of kingdoms in Boroughs and small towns.

"This is the Realm of The Broken Stars. This is where all the mighty people from the river of time trained and honed their swords to the extreme." Danial froze, his brain barely registering what he had just heard. Realm of The Broken Stars? The river of time? His thoughts swirled in a mix of awe and disbelief. Little did we know at the time that he was preparing the three of us to one day rule over all of the realms. The realms were our test. To see how each of us did with the little power he gave us and I'm sure he was disheartened when Rizor failed. He wanted one of us to rule over all three realms in the end," she says while tearing more of the book revealing another open book that was hidden beneath those pages.

Not even the High Heavens and the Chaos realms were spared as the crystal cities of heaven and the Shadowed spires of the Chaos realms burned and shattered before his might. The gods, angels, and demons banded together in an attempt to stop him and met him upon the Shattered realm before the last bastion of the realms was destroyed. They threw everything they had against him though their desperate attempt to stop the Demon dealt only a single scratch upon his jet black scales at the cost of trillions of them. Though he succeeded in destroying the gods and all the realms and turned time back to the beginning in hopes to see his love again only to end in grief.

The weeks that followed our trip to the warehouse felt like a dream and a nightmare all at once. We moved through our days with a purpose, but each step brought us closer to something we couldn’t fully prepare for. Langford’s network was expanding, pulling us deeper into a world that was still full of ghosts and enemies. It wasn’t just about surviving anymore—it was about taking back control of our lives.
