"So take it that every single bone of the human skeleton would break and be made to take a fresh shape so they would fit into that animal's shape." I said to her, Grace gasped. She looked at me with wild eyes and then, her gaze shifted to her friend. She looked like she was going to cry anytime soon.

It made me wonder how she had walked in here without her fleshless bonds snapping at the weight. Her skin was an extremely unhealthy looking of gray mixed in with a tinge of yellow. It was an obvious sign of vitamin D deficiency and it is likely she had not seen the sun in months. There were maps of scars on the already ruined skin. Some were still just wounds: not inflicted too long ago. My stomach lurched at the sight.

Some were so cracked that you could see the inner part of the skull. Others seemed to be intact, with teeth, skin and hair and even whole. But those skulls had no faces or ears, nothing was left except bones. The body parts were gone. She felt nauseated.

They simply needed to fly past the mountains ahead to finally enter Eastplain. All of a sudden, a mocking jeer was heard. "My, how bold of you to show up here!" A dense black mist rose from the mountains, and within it was a massive white skeleton that resembled a demonic entity rising from the depths of hell. The skeleton exuded a terrifying aura, while its body was shrouded in a greenish glow. Its eye sockets bore faint flickers of greenish flames, and surrounding it were ghostly apparitions. More astonishingly, the skeleton possessed the strength of a half-immortal.

The thing was beautifully monstrous. Its body had human proportions, but the tone of its skin was too pale, almost translucent under the light. Its back was marked by black protrusions like exposed bones, forming a row of sharp spines, like a crooked predator’s crown. Its arms were folded over its bare chest, long dark fingers and claws that didn’t seem meant only to cut but to suck.

Human bones, weathered by time and the relentless flow of water, intertwine with the skulls, creating a haunting display of mortality. The ethereal glow from the waysticks casts shadows upon the skeletal structures, illuminating the intricate details of the bones. Delicate features of the skulls become visible, their curves and contours accentuated by the soft light. The translucent layer of calcium, formed from the presence of limestone fragments packed between bone and stone, overlays the skulls and bones, creating a patchwork effect. In some places, the layer appears frosted, obscuring certain details, while in other areas, it is more transparent, emphasizing the eerie beauty of the skele

I shake her hand. I feel different. I feel braver and lighter. Maybe I can heal. Wounds will turn to scars. Scars remind us that our past is real. It's okay that it is real. Today I let Maria pull a band-aid off. That makes me hopeful that despite it all, the sun will keep on shining.

That's just the face. The body itself is even worse. Blood is pouring onto the ground in a giant puddle. It’s blackened and some of it has dried onto the ground. Not only is it in the puddle but it’s splattered all around the area in arcs. The chest has been skinned alive and the skin is completely missing. There is no sign of it. All we see is the muscle and bones that lay underneath it. The sternum and ribs are cracked open wide.
