I sank to the ground, covered my face with my hands, and sobbed like my heart was breaking. … I couldn't stay away when the day came. Some part of me had to see it for myself before letting go. The venue was stunning. Radiant light spilled over elegant flower arrangements, turning the whole place into something out of a dream. Delicate drapes swayed as petals drifted like snow, wrapping everything in a warm, magical glow. Around me, guests chatted happily, their glasses clinking in celebration. My chest ached. But first I have to remove all the makeup and the jewellery. I looked in the mirror and saw a married woman whose husband wasn't ready to accept her just yet. "Hayat, you can do this. Pretend he is just a roommate. Just a roommate", I say to myself finishing removing my makeup. Now it was time for the jewelry. My father has given me Mamma's favourite necklace to wear today. He gifted it to her when he proposed marriage in front of my grandparents. "All done", I tell myself as I put on my hijab, and then I walk out taking my wedding attire with me.

He turned and snarled at the veiled woman, “And if I kill you?” Her blind eyes shone even brighter. “Then she bleeds empty…a book with its ending torn out. She’ll wander forever half-written.” Vincent quickly faced Camela again. “And if I kill her?” The chains of the veiled woman rattled as a cruel smile appeared beneath her veil. "Then I walk away free. A book is restored. But without her…without the shell…you lose your bride." Camela shouted, "Don’t listen! Vincent, don’t pay attention to her!"

"My beautiful girl. You deserve this. You deserve every beautiful thing." Lady Venus smiled in the mirror. "Shall we try the veil? Just to see?" I nodded. She brought over a long, sheer veil with a delicate edge of embroidered flowers. She pinned it carefully into my hair. The fabric floated behind me like a soft cloud. When I turned again, the full picture hit me. This was real. I was getting married. Again. But this time it was different in every way that mattered. The first time had been cold. A quick signing in Sebastian's office at the Blackwood mansion. No flowers. No music. No dress.
