“Okay. You’re right. I’ve been cooped up in this house all week. A walk might do me good.” We all stood up and headed back downstairs. Maria, the head maid, was in the entrance hall and gave Sarah a questioning look as we approached the front door. “We’re just going for a walk, Maria,” Sarah said softly. “I’ll be fine.” Maria nodded but didn’t look entirely convinced. “Stay safe,” she said. “I will,” Sarah promised. We stepped outside into the bright afternoon sunlight. It was a beautiful day, warm but not too hot, with a light breeze.
