The specific quality of a life lived in the anteroom of a decision that kept refusing to be made, and what that did to a person across thirty years.

I tried not to gawk as I watched shimmering blue and grey threads of magic reach out in all directions towards the shelves of books that lined the room. Book after book removed itself from the shelves, drifting into neat stacks on the nearest table. My amazement was quickly replaced with abject horror when the total book count reached twenty-three. "There's no way I'm going to be able to read this many books." I laughed, but grabbed a large armful of them anyway. I figured it'd be smart to move in clusters. I'd open up six or so books, scan the index until I found either portals or blockages. Most of the book's only briefly mentioned the subjects, and quickly dropped them entirely as they we

I'm gonna choose one to three books only, I can't handle reading multiple books at a time. I pick up each of the books the book cover and title attracts me to scan through, for some attempting to scan through the main body to check if there's anything that interests me.
