Third Wheel
Sensing my anxiety, James adds, “Do you know a game where we can ask questions to get to know each other?”
I straighten my back, sigh, then announce, “The game is called, ‘I’ve never’.” Over the women’s excited clapping, I explain, “I’ll start with a few examples before we rotate around the group.” I signal around the circle clockwise. “If you have done what I prompt, you drink. If not, you watch.” I assess their understanding by meeting their gazes. “As the prompter, I can use things I have or haven’t done. I can use intimate details I know about others to force them to drink.” I raise my eyebrows to Jackson and Kennedy. “Let’s practice before I let everyone have a turn.”
