The throne hall doors stood closed, sealed with black wax that had not been placed there by any Northridge hand. My wolf went still. I broke the seal with one claw. The doors opened. Inside, my throne sat beneath the upside-down banner of Rudina’s house, marked across the seat and arms with fresh Blood Feather blood. A message had been written on the silver floor before it, each letter shaped from red-black drops still wet enough to shine. Northridge has chosen its shadow queen. The floor of the throne room is cut with a massive circle of ancient stonework I’ve seen my whole life but never paid much attention to. Now, the runes carved into the stone pulse faintly with gold light, the pattern shifting, almost breathing, like it’s alive and realizes what’s about to happen.

One day at a time, that was her focus. At last, they arrived at the awe-inspiring Throne Room. It was a sight to behold, with vibrant colors adorning everything from the curtains to the carpet. A staircase led up to the throne, with a regal red carpet stretching from its foot all the way to the Throne Room's entrance.

Only one side of the wall in the Throne room was painted and I looked to the throne area and sighed in relief when I saw they were untouched and unpainted. The workers and Shrilly had all noticed my presence and halted their movements but I still yelled anyway. “Stop! I said and my voice filled the room. I raised my hand up and used my index finger to call Shrilly over while a tight frown claimed my face. “Come here.” I said and Shrilly wasted no time in coming over even though he was trembling as he came. Just then, I heard a loud thud behind me and I turned to see Andrea and Daniel rushing inside the room, panting. I would deal with Daniel later for leaving Shrilly alone again.

“I don’t see a cup dispenser anywhere around here.” “There is a water cooler back at the control panel, I saw it. It has disposable paper cups.” “I’ll keep that in mind,” Cara said. “Now find the door to the tunnel,” Bohdan said. For the next hour Bohdan and Cara searched for the entrance to the tunnel in vain. The room was an endless expanse of stored junk with no doors anywhere. Then they found something. Back behind several rolls of wire fencing was a single door with the word “No exit” painted in red. Cara pushed the rolls apart and made her way to the door and looked for a handle to open it. What she found was a place where the handle use to be and a slot for a key.

I could feel the anger boiling within her, which only made me smile knowing that she was getting what she deserved. I turned to Thorian and asked, "Where are we going?" My stomach rumbled slightly, reminding me of my hunger. He smirked and replied, "To eat, what else?" Suddenly, we stopped at a door. Thorian pushed it open slightly, revealing a mesmerizing sight. The room was filled with bean bags, a play station, a pool table, a dart board, and many other games and a TV. I couldn't help but open my mouth slightly in astonishment. "What is this place?" I asked, trying to take it all in. Thorian chuckled and replied, "This, Ashley, is a place reserved for the six precious gems, mainly for me.
