It was still messy, littered with old books and scribbled-on papers, but the mess had more room to spread across, now.
I toed a pile out of the way and crossed the room, leaning heavily against the windowsill. Outside, Omegas rushed across the gardens, coiling coloured ribbons around the trunks of warm-toned autumnal trees. In the centre of the gardens a small platform had been erected, cordoned off by more ribbons; orange lamps dangled from low-hanging branches across the space, their glow deepening as the sun began to set.
