He lets go to slide me to my own feet to wrap his arms back around me again and squeezes me doubly tight, almost winding me fully with rib cracking strength. It’s the kind of hug given in desperation, when someone really is happy to have you back with them and can’t control how it feels. I don’t mind the bone cracking, as long as he doesn’t hate me anymore. Obviously still loves me if this is anything to go by. I cry, silent tears and cling on desperately, every part of me cocooned in the one safe place I never want to leave ever again. Enveloped by everything that I love about him.

He hugged me tightly. My whole body went limp. I want to pass out.

And suddenly, he was everywhere. His woody scent invaded my nostrils as his strong arms wrapped around me in a hug so tight that there was not even an inch separating us. Soft planes to hard muscles, I could feel every inch of him as our bodies pressed together. "You drive me fucking insane, kitten," he whispered harshly against my hair, hugging me tighter to him.

Tyler hugs me like we’ve been best friends for years. Not in that stiff, polite way people do when they don’t know how to say goodbye—but full-bodied, tight-armed, chin-on-shoulder kind of hug. The kind that makes you close your eyes for a second and just breathe. “You text me,” he says, pulling back and gripping my arms. “The second you start spiraling or the second Jacob starts acting like a know-it-all Alpha with too many secrets.”

She hugged him so tightly that she was pretty sure he wasn't breathing properly. Nathan hugged her back stiffly.

My chest tightens so hard it hurts to breathe. He lifts our joined hands, pressing his lips to my knuckles—soft, reverent, almost desperate. “You know…” His grip tightens, not painful, but firm enough to anchor us both. “You can’t leave us, you know that right? You’re *us*… hmm?” Golden eyes search mine with an intensity that steals my breath, like he’s terrified I’ll vanish if he blinks. “You’re the piece we didn’t know we were missing for millennia.”

I nodded, giving him a thumbs up. Raising his arm, he silently asked if I wanted a hug. My eyes squinted with a smile, appreciating his thoughtfulness. I stepped closer and embraced him, a gesture he clearly wasn't accustomed to. The hug felt incredible until his arms wrapped around me. Gone was the sweat, replaced by the scent of cologne, which struck me as odd. I was completely taken aback. It was an experience unlike anything I had felt before. It was a rarity for anyone to want to hug me-unless they were little kids who found amusement in poking my stomach and thighs.
