I wasn’t about to let her read in peace. “The protagonist goes back in time and meets himself to save the world.” She put the book down but didn’t close it. She thought she could shake me off with that. “Do you believe in it? I mean, time travel?” I asked. “I don’t know. Theoretically, as far as I know, it’s impossible—we’d have to be faster than light. But who knows what the truth is? And you?” She politely returned the question. “I haven’t thought about it,” I admitted.

Once that thought formed, it wrapped itself around my mind like a creeping vine. Jake once joked that he was a time traveler. It was during a college astronomy club event. We were watching a rare phenomenon where seven planets aligned. He had pointed at the sky and said, "If I disappear out of the blue one day, don't be surprised. I might've gone back to become a king." I had laughed at him for reading too many sci-fi novels. But… what if it hadn't been a joke? What if he really was a time traveler, someone who had accidentally stumbled upon my timeline?

The writer of the article was in the top left corner of the page, and in it, he was talking about how he believes it is fully possible to bend time and pass through, letting yourself in through different horizons, at time either long past, or never experienced.

I am not a time traveler, but I am very prone to waking up to other people’s bodies, to a different scenario, to a different timeline. If someone will ask me who I am, my only answer will be…I am someone lost in time.
