It feels like the memory of someone else. I walk into what I assume is the living room, and my eyes land on a collection of framed photographs on a sideboard near the wall. I stop. The Ghoul giggled until the gurgle of death and a fountain of blood was all that was left to be heard or seen. But......in victory there was also death. One overzealous female leopard, with fur covered in large white and grey and silver splotches, naming her a clouded leopard tripped up and got to close to the dying Ghouls snapping, giggling maw. In the blink of an eye, fangs had latched into her back leg. Blood and black spit flowed down her fur and paw as the horrible sound of crunching bone and pained growls lit the chaotic air.

My body hasn’t fully recovered from that and I didn’t know if I could handle another bullet today. The rogue rested his forefinger on the trigger but before he could pull it, a shadow dropped from the trees above. It was so swift, almost like a monkey swinging from branch to branch. My eyes widened in shock when I realized what it was; a body that was slightly bent down, sunken rounded eyes, fingers stretching into long sharp talons, razor-like teeth, and skin that wrapped around the bones like molten rubber—it’s a ghoul.

Brandon looked at the image stylized on the brittle and yellow parchment in shock. In the center of the sheet, was the Ghoul or a blocked and inked panting of it. All of the limbs were stokes of circles and blocks and in the painting its teeth were overly dramatized, its ears pulled back, and its limbs far too long and painted pitch black, but beyond all of this the essence of the picture was of a Ghoul.

A ghoul—a smoky, semi-corporeal horror with glowing red eyes and clawed hands—materialized from the shadows and slammed into him. He grunted in pain as his back connected hard with the carriage, the breath knocked from his lungs. The cube clattered to the ground but continued its ominous pulse. The ghoul, joined by a second, shambled toward him. The mayor, witnessing this, screamed, and the few townsfolk nearby scattered.

She scrolls through while reading their names. “Bitan… Furuōgi… Rokurokubi… no wait maybe it’s in the other folder.” She says and switches to the other folder to search for it. “Here it is!” she says while comparing the photo of a Tako nyūdō to the tentacle monster that they had encountered. [Author’s Note: Tako nyūdō is an octopus like yokai which is quite similar to the one they encountered… The octopus is a direct translation for Tako. I don’t know what the other thing means to be honest.]

Tokyo had put the call into loudspeaker so I would hear, not that I can't when it wasn't because their voices were too loud. "Hey? What's happening?"
