Traps Book Novels & Stories

“Believing us isn't defeat. Treating belief like a trap is the leftover switch.” “It is a trap.” Theo’s hands locked under his arms. “A trap I asked for. That’s the part that makes me want to put my fist through the bare wall. I demanded a door. You built it. I tried to wire it, cancel it, and invent it. It’s still there. Now I have to walk toward it with no story left that gets me out.” Silence stretched. June sat on the floor with a pencil frozen over homework. Anna pushed a truck in circles, humming.

He muttered as if he found that very hard to believe. I shrugged in response as I stared at him. There were still many layers that he had to peel to get to know the real me but it might also take him longer to find that out. "It's a good book. I know that you might not be interested in all of these though." I replied. He shrugged, "You don't say. So I went out today and I'm happy that I caught the trap I set a few days ago." For some people, they might misunderstand it and think that it was a normal animal trap but I had a feeling it wasn't. I cocked my head sideways, " Oh really? tell me about it." I replied as we walked inside the room.

Outside, the storm finally began to break apart, leaving the air clean and cold and new. Across the city Eric Reese’s car moved through the wet streets toward a prison that still smelled of smoke and secrets no one had bothered to excavate. And somewhere between a woman reclaiming the first fragile pieces of her true name and a man who had crossed an ocean carrying grief like a loaded weapon, the first invisible thread of a different kind of justice pulled taut in the dark quiet, inevitable, and already too strong to break.

I added. They both paused. Sarafina tilted her head slightly. “Then what is?” I looked back at the blood trail, then at them. “The trap,” I said. “It could only be triggered by something supernatural.” They didn’t interrupt. “They set it expecting something like me to walk into it,” I continued. “And when they came back—” “They saw it was triggered,” Kael finished. “Yes.” “But you weren’t there,” Sarafina added slowly. “Exactly.”

I am surprised that nothing happens. I throw a the remaining shards of glass and wait again. Nothing happens and I am pleasantly surprised. There is no motion trap. I look around and find a book lying haphazardly on the floor beside where I landed. It is big enough to cause a shift in the balance of weight in the floor boards and I decide to use if to test the weight sensitive trap.

Tenths. They came closer, more closer, most closer and... one jumped with a speed of an eagle extending his jaw to catch her. That's when she felt being wrapped in huge arms which seized and forced her to jump over the cliff. "Don't worry! I'm taking you into an abyss where only peace and happiness flows." The man said, his voice sounding more romantic and promising to her. "Rejoice because your story is about to reach a happily ever moment."

no way! why am I bent in such an angle like a baby in the womb, what is happening to me? I took a look at my position, my breath got stuck in my throat as I realized I was inside a rope like thing, no,...wait, I am in a FUCKING trap. This isn't funny any more, am I going to die as food for carnivores as I become their special treat. As the lights glowed behind her and the city stretched endlessly below, one truth settled deep in her bones: The trap was working. But traps always cut both ways. And somewhere nearby, Ethan was smiling...already planning his next move.

She is, but that just means I can use her in any way I see fit. “Are you disrespecting me and turning down my generosity?” I watched the subtle, uncomfortable movements between the two men. The idea of them touching Elara seemed to turn me on way more than I expected, but it also filled me with a burning rage. They were confused, and although they no doubt wanted to touch my pretty wife, they were conflicted because they knew I could kill them, even if they were obediently following my order. “It’s not a trap, boys.” I stepped back and swung my arm out, showcasing Elara, who was still laid out like my perfect, good girl.
