The scent of old books and wood filled the air. I often forgot how big the collection here was, since I usually opted to use the library at the pack headquarters whenever I needed anything. But this library boasted thousands of books of various genres, while the headquarters library—where Gertrude worked—consisted mostly of pack documents and rare texts that required specific archival conditions. Thea immediately broke away from us, making a beeline for the colorful children’s section tucked into a corner of the first floor. I clutched my worn leather bag tighter as I stepped onto the empty platform. Rain hammered down in thick sheets, soaking my coat in seconds. I adjusted my backpack and headed up the extensive stairs that were in front of the large library. It was the biggest building in the area, and it held most of the pack’s history from the time the pack was founded. There weren’t just the normal books that you would see in a non-shifter library but a bunch of magical tomes as well. It was still pretty early but the librarian I knew opened at 6:00 a.m. for the local college kids who needed to prep for their early classes. Slipping in, there was a college aged she-wolf sitting at front desk. Leaning forward, I smiled at her.

We finally arrived in front of a huge door as he gently pulled at it to reveal the library. The library door creaked open, revealing a sight that left me utterly awestruck. My initial perception of a "small" library was immediately shattered. This was a haven of books and knowledge that stretched beyond imagination. The room was colossal, with towering bookshelves that seemed to reach up to the heavens themselves. Each shelf was neatly organized, displaying an impressive collection of books. The scent of old and new pages intermingled in the air, creating an atmosphere that was both comforting and enchanting.

I had no idea where to go so I walked into a library filled with dust and books. I greeted the Libyan with a smile and for the first time the library smiled at me, I was astonished.
