Her scent. Her voice. Her breaths. Her heartbeats. Anything… anything that could help me find her. That could assure me she was safe. “Zeve!” I cried out. At the end of the corridor, James could see softly flickering orange lights; the fire was burning somewhere below. He stole a quick glance towards the lounge and saw flames building through the glass door. That end too? In that brief moment of hesitation, he couldn’t help but wonder why the alarms had not gone off yet. He shook it off and turned to Tres. “We need to get as many out as we can, got it?” Tres swallowed back his fear and nodded.

“Try betrayal with a side of corporate disaster.” “Messy,” he said. “I approve.” That surprised her. “You approve?” “Of clean breaks,” he clarified. “Sometimes burning it all down is the smartest thing you can do.” She studied him, trying to figure out what he was doing here. But then again… maybe she wanted something, too. “Alright,” she said finally, lifting her glass. “To burning it down.”
