Asked one of the servants, who saw Poppy enter the library and approached her quickly. “No, I don't need it. I'll only be here for a moment.” Poppy declined, softly driving the maid away. What on earth? “You’ll pay for that!” Poppy screeched, shaking her wings and sending tiny droplets of blackberry juice flying. She flew to the bush, picked the largest berry she could lift, then sent it careening towards the raucous laughter of Petunia and her crew. It missed Petunia but landed on a dark-haired pixie wearing a red dress. Chaos descended quickly. The battle was three pixies against one and it wasn’t a fair fight, so Josh joined in. He worked with Poppy, who looked utterly delighted to have him defend her, and barely left his side.

“Toight like a toiga.” I had no idea what that meant, and I wasn’t going to ask. We returned to the trolls, me wearing my new dead man hand me downs, Flossie wearing a frown. I don’t think she was sad, she was just thinking. Can be painful if you haven’t done it before. The trolls were in small groups having deep discussions. Strategies, tactics, bets — all the usual pre-game hype. I walked up to Raviva and Keezy who seemed much more comfortable around each other now they had their disagreement reduced to a game.

I couldn't fight it, and I couldn't fight them, and as I cried out for help, they all waved a small, taunting goodbye, as I was pulled into total darkness. "Meh Meh Meh Meh Meh Meh MEH MEH MEH MEH MEH MEH" A loud screaming sound pulled me out of my slumber, and I opened my eyes to see Poppy again invading my personal space. She was on top of me, and making what I can only imagine were supposed to be alarm clock sounds with her mouth, getting louder and louder. "Alright alright, I'm up, you can stop." I answered, slapping her face like an alarm clock, getting her off of my bed.

Yet here I was, forced to swallow the unimaginable. Satisfied that she had quenched a thirst I never had, Selene pressed a book into my hands. One glance at the cover made my heart sink. Trolls. Of course it had to be trolls. In that instant, I understood Kael’s disdain for the entire franchise. This girl’s obsession was unlike anything I had ever witnessed. It coated her world—her words, her shelves, even the Princess Poppy hair ties woven into her braids. She could walk into a boardroom tomorrow and sell their brand better than any professional, all without knowing she was doing it.
