I turned left, and there on the ground was a tiny old book that described the path the old woman had told me about. Quickly, I began to trace it, following the book's guidelines. I had walked a little farther, my feet aching and my body growing more exhausted, when I finally saw it—the Whispering Oak standing tall, its bark twisted into faces, whispering softly as though alive. And there it was—the veil. I pressed it, and it opened slowly, creaking like ancient wood. Before long, I was inside the oak tree. The wind had stopped blowing. Everything was suffocating—dark and scary.

Colton looks like he wants to walk into a tree. I shake my head, unable to stop the small smile tugging at my lips. “You two are terrible at lying.” Oakley beams. “Thank you.” “That wasn’t a compliment,” I say. “It felt like one,” he replies. Colton exhales slowly. “Let’s just… move on. The orchard is this way.” Oakley nods quickly. “Yes. Orchard. Trees. Fruit. No mysterious healer prophecies there.” Colton mutters, “Hopefully.”

They needed to keep moving, to find ways to get out of the area. Anna guided Luna through the forested area until they reached a tiny clearing. Their movements were muted by a thick layer of fallen leaves beneath their feet. Luna couldn't ignore the feeling that they were being watched, but she knew Anna would keep them safe. A large, gnarled oak stood in the center of the clearing, shimmering in the moonlight. Anna approached the tree and spoke inaudibly beneath her breath. The trunk of the tree suddenly broke open, revealing a hidden corridor.

Oscar leaned on the oak tree that stood on the ground full of shrubs and wild mushrooms talking with Blaire as they both smiled at each other. "This is it," Oscar said. "This is where we first met, the day you were supposed to meet up with Dax." The memories of this very place haunted Blaire. She tried to push it off the more it became more evident to her that she had made a lot of silly mistakes in the past. "Yes, I do remember vividly," Blaire said. "It was a beautiful night, just like this one." She lied trying to hide her turbulence. Blaire and Osacar both sat down under the oak tree listening to the rushing sounds of the waterfall. The sun was setting hard, and the sky was getting darke

“Kael… if you go, Ashwood collapses. The packs collapse. Everything you’ve bled for collapses. And Rhea will follow you into the grave.” Kael’s breathing tightened. Fenrak placed a hand on his shoulder. “Let me do this for you.” Violet stepped into the room behind them, her eyes red. “It’s time,” she whispered. --- The trek to the Ancient Oak was silent. Only the crackling of torches followed them as warriors marched through the forest. The ground trembled with something old, something waking beneath the soil. The Ancient Oak towered over them — massive, twisted, its roots half in the real world and half fading into swirling mist. The bark pulsed faintly like a beating heart.

Would it be Lara sitting under the oak tree Zoe told us about, or would we find her lifeless? “There!” Zoe says as she points toward the giant oak tree she talked about. The moment my eyes land on the tree, I rush towards it. Everyone else does the exact thing, and they follow my lead. “She’s not here,” Zoe says which we all are now aware of. “I think I can help,” Ashton suggests as he kneels down on one knee. He starts to groan from pain as he transforms into a full-grown glorious werewolf. He’s exceptionally muscular, exceptionally hairy, and looks exceptionally violent.

I knew he was supposed to be here. Thinking he was yet to come, I sat under the oak tree and waited for him. I kind of see why he liked this place, the cool breeze brushing against my skin was so calming, and the leaves on the oak tree rustled with the wind. I closed my eyes, breathing deeply, enjoying the calm environment. I think I was too engrossed in how good I was feeling that I did not know when I fell asleep. I don’t know how long I had slept, but when I woke up, I was moving in the air, my eyes immediately flew open, scared I was being kidnapped.

I didn’t know then if I wanted to help or hurt her, or if the difference mattered. In the end, it didn’t. When I thought of the idea for Sofia’s birthday, it was almost too perfect. Hilda would be there, and so would Ava, if I played it right. The rest was just logistics. And here we are. I reached the far side of the clearing and crouched, tracing the perimeter with my eyes. The trees here were ancient—black oak and old cedar, their roots swallowing half the ground. In the center was a depression, a kind of shallow bowl ringed by deadfall and soft moss. I checked the wind, then stepped into the open.

Author's POV After Kehna and her father left, Ruby quickly went to look for the 'so-called shadow' Kehna saw. "Seriously?" She shouted furiously as she waited for an answer. "You really have to learn how to knock," the 'so-called shadow' said in a surprisingly calm tone "Look, I'm not here to joke around with you, just tell if you went out today"

;Maia was reading a book under the tree in the backyard of the pack house. She has been there for almost half an hour, enjoying the wind and the sun. She has no plan to mess with the big bad wolf today because she was so sure that Oakley was not going to do her condition and he's probably irritated at her because of what she has done yesterday.
