Mine to Lose
My breathing is uneven and ragged.
“Breathe with me,” he says softly, guiding me through deep, calming breaths. I follow his lead, inhaling and exhaling until my breathing steadies.
“I’m sorry,” I finally manage to say, my voice trembling. “We never fight. I never talk back or argue with my parents, so this is really taking a toll on me. I just want him to love me without restrictions,” I admit, referring to my father.
“It’s okay,” Cassian reassures me, his voice warm and steady. “I’m here for you.” His words soothe me, filling my heart with something I can’t explain expect it’s the most beautiful feeling ever.
