I guess I really need a drink. “I heard you just moved in here.” The guy who I think is named Jake, said. I then turned to face him and nodded. “Yeah, I just did. Earlier today.” I told him, he then nodded. “So, how is Sanford so far?” he queried, I pursed my lips and act as if I was thinking. “It's great, I didn't encounter any bastard or shitty women shouting at anyone on the streets unlike my hometown so, it's great.” I answered, he then let out a small laugh.

It was scary the first time I saw it, but Papa explained that I’d be okay as long as I stayed back. Briar swallows hard, and I wonder how she didn’t know this fact. She’s known James her whole life, and she’s seen him like this before. Though, she never asked for any details because she was constantly pushed out of the room. Has she not seen James have a premonition in the years I’ve been gone? “The power of four,” James’ voice changes to a rasp as he speaks. It all hit at once, and tears just spilled. “It’s nothing.” My voice was hoarse. “I just had a baby. I’m recovering. It’s the rich guy’s baby.” Dead silence. Then, through clenched teeth, “Wren, you are really shameless.” “Wren, even if you died tomorrow, I wouldn’t blink an eye.” A sweet, syrupy voice in the background. “James? Who is that? You sound off.” He took a breath. “Nobody. Just some lunatic.” The line went dead.
