She shrugged and I shook my head. "You won't understand, mum. And just so you know, my roommates in my second and third year respectively were something else. One was a noisemaker, playing music in high volume and the other was a home goer. Like. . .he went home every weekend like his life depended on it." I shook my head again. "And what's so bad about that? Do you think everyone is like you that avoids home like a plague? Tell me, why exactly do you stay away from home?"

Roommate needed: Male or female, doesn’t smoke, tidy, can cook tasty meals is a plus, minds their business – I scoffed at the roommate ad, is he looking for a roommate or does he want a maid? I folded the paper into my bag as I walked into the bank to clear out all the money from me and Marty’s joint account, ten thousand dollars, it was nothing much but it was enough to get me started on a new life.

Something deeply unpleasant or destructive for sure. I decided not to circle back. I’d deal with whatever happened later. Just one more thing I could document to get myself moved to a different dorm room. I wished I could have kept my roommate from last year. Valerie was a real gem. But she’d unfortunately dropped out toward the end of the last semester, and I’d had to pay roommate roulette again. I’d sure been shot in the face this time.

He asked me and I nodded solemnly, pointing at Wren. "I am thoroughly dissatisfied with the idea of having a roommate." I informed him, he smirked slightly. "You don't like Wren?, I could swap him with Aiden." He offered, just as I took a sip of water from the glass on my table, I choked on the water, looking up at him in horror. Aiden and I couldn't stand each other, and for good reason...the guy was mentally disturbed and I would not wish to spend a minute more than I absolutely have to in his presence.

She swiped a tear from my face that I didn’t even realize had fallen, and I loved this girl even more for purposely forgetting his name. How I lucked out falling into having her and Cynthia as roommates, I’ll never know. When I moved here shortly after I turned eighteen, I needed roommates because housing was expensive and I didn't want to draw on pack resources. They were the fourth ad I checked out and the only ones who didn't seem clingy or crazy. They had their own busy lives so they wouldn't pay much attention to mine, but they were reliable enough that I wouldn't come home to being evicted.

Their children also help, and I've become close to most of them, so I feel like a big sister. Jelena keeps pushing me to get out and try to find my mate, but a big part of me doesn't want to lose the only family I've ever known. I'm scared of being out in the world alone. However, that's not the only thing that I'm afraid of. I'm terrified if I leave, they'll forget about me, and once again, I'll be unwanted. That's one of the worst feelings in the world, feeling like no one wants you or cares for you.

It will be interesting, but I doubt that it will be fun. Haakon greets me with a friendly smile. The pony that I tended too on my arrival is in a nearby paddock and trots over to the fence. I move to the wooden railing and stroke my hand along her neck. I will not cry. I will not allow myself to cry. I have been unwanted my entire life. This is no different. After giving myself a moment to come to terms with not being wanted, once again, I resume my daily chores. I remain busy for the rest of the day and again avoid both men. Ignoring the dragons is harder since I have a connection with one that both are using.

I felt nauseous because of the smell coming from the building. They led me into the building and took me to a room in the building. The room was badly furnished. There was almost no furniture in the room. There was only a mattress on the floor, a reading table, and a chair. The walls of the room had cracks and I could see the roaches that would occasionally poke out their head from the holes and go back in. “This is your quarter. From now on, you are going to have to make a home out of it.” One of them said to me.
