The Dragon's Chubby Treasure Chapter 13: The Weight of Choice I woke up slowly with the soft grass under my back and the first light of dawn warming my skin. My body still felt the echo of the long flight. My heart had not stopped racing from the height and the way the ground had fallen away so fast. I blinked and looked around. The hidden valley stretched out quiet and green with the crystal lake shining nearby and the modest cave entrance glowing softly in the distance. It was beautiful but it felt strange. This was not home. This was the new place Vaelor had brought me after he burned everything he owned.

He saw me – the daughter who had turned the Vane secrets into a shield. He realized then that he wasn't fighting a girl or a bodyguard. He was fighting a memory that had been restored. The "Siege of the Spirit" was broken because the spirit of the valley was no longer in debt. "You're a fool, Hannah " Elias said. "You could have been the Queen of the Outback. Instead you're a peasant in a dying valley." "I’m a Rossi Elias " I said. ". In this valley that's all that matters." He mounted his horse. Rode away. The heavy hoofbeats faded into the distance replaced by the sound of the wind in the vines and the collective exhale of a village that was finally free.

The Russo girl thought she could play in my world and not pay the price? She was wrong. Valentina stood just behind me, arms folded tightly, eyes unreadable. Her face was pale, but her spine was steel. I could see it now she was no longer just her sister’s substitute. She was becoming something else. Something dangerous. “Are you coming?” I asked without looking at her. She hesitated. “Yes.” “Then don’t get in my way.” On the Road The drive was long. Mountains surrounded us like ancient sentinels, their icy peaks clawing at the clouds.

The lifeline I had spent three years and all my devotion trying to repay turned out to be nothing more than a carefully planned trick, or maybe just a fleeting act of charity. I didn't want to think about Malcolm anymore. I closed my eyes and tried to sleep. Perhaps it was due to the new environment, but my sleep was restless even with the light on. I wasn't even sure if I had fallen asleep. My mind felt hazy, and it was as if I had been transported back to that cold, helpless time. I could see nothing, and all I could hear were those cruel, mocking voices ringing in my ears. "What good is a blind Alpha?"

A figure before us suddenly cut me off mid-sentence. It was Wanda. She stood right there, glaring at me with hatred and indignation filling her eyes. Shiloh stood right in between me and Wanda. Wanda suddenly charged forward, but was stopped by some security guards. Struggling against their hold, she yelled at me at the top of her lungs a mere few steps away from me, “Jansen Graham! What must I do to make you come back to me? “Will you only stop when you see my entire family destroyed?”

It would be hard for any alpha to resist. Ayla led us to a mansion. It came into view like a monster in the dark. It had big gates, overgrown vines and cracked statues. The rogue wolves had money but they didn’t use it for beautification. Only control and bad deeds. We stormed the gates and we found Valen waiting. His arms were folded as, calm as ever...leaning against a stone column like we were old friends visiting for tea. "Damn he does look so hot up close." Ayla whispered. Orion hit her slightly. "Not a time for simping Ayla."

I can’t help but scream as I peek an eye open and watch as the snow-covered ground comes toward us. “It’s okay,” he yells back, his fingers digging into my waist and neck so hard I’m pretty sure they will leave crescent-shaped bruises from his nails. I shake my head and bury my face back into his chest, counting the seconds until I feel a burst of magic, and our downward descent stalls so fast that I’m pretty sure my stomach is now in my esophagus. “Ugh…” I moan, the sound muffled by Valen's shirt, then scream when we fall again! This time, it's over in a matter of seconds, and Valen curses as we land into soft, fluffy, freaking-freezing snow!

Valerie groaned as she tossed and turned on her bed when she heard the noises outside, she opened her eyes to see it was morning already, the day for her journey had come and now the search for her mother’s murderer and the leader of the wolf-Hagen society begins. The hustle and bustle could be heard from outside as they all prepared for the departure of Valerie, She got up and had decided to get ready, Valerie walked out to see everything ready, Adira, Alice and even Agatha were all set for the journey.

Quoted conversations among the soldiers betrayed a sense of restlessness, as if the suspense weighed heavily on their shoulders. Livia, standing at the center of the cosmic convergence, felt the pulsating energies intensify. Quoted conversations within her conflicted mind echoed with a suspenseful anticipation—a silent question that begged for resolution. "What secrets lie within the convergence? Will its final revelation offer redemption or plunge us into deeper mysteries?" Livia pondered, her gaze fixed on Valeria as if seeking answers beyond the visible realm. Valeria, attuned to the cosmic forces, began to weave a narrative that transcended the earthly struggles. Quoted conversations amo

Let them all. Because Nyxara Vale was not a memory. She was a reckoning waiting to unfold, and the storm inside her was only gathering strength. She would rise, not as the pampered heiress they remembered, but as something forged from sorrow and fury—a force that would tear through every lie, every alliance, every illusion they’d built on her grave. Cassian’s arrogance, Brielle’s cruelty, the world’s indifference—none of it would shield them from what was coming. They had not destroyed her. They had unleashed her.
