Shields and weapons hang from their saddles, and swords and battle axes are strapped to their sides. Their hair whips behind them—braids of blonde, red, and dark brown. Kohl lines their eyes and lips, painted symbols across their foreheads, cheeks, and noses. They shout war cries—“Tyr!” and “Sköll!” and screams that could wake the dead. “What the hell is happening?” Nathan asks. “Valkyries,” Bella answers, making me jump—I didn’t even hear her approach. The thunder and lightning don’t stop until all thirteen women land. They dismount smoothly and remove their weapons. As if dismissed, their horses bolt into the woods.

Her hair was done up with Viking braids, and black eyeliner made her eyes even more vibrant. Kai had his arm on my shoulder, and I heard the low whistle come from him. Right there with you. Our girl was breathtaking. Fuck, I would share this image with her later. Perhaps she would dress up like this for us. Yes, that would lead to a delectable fuckfest for sure. One that we all needed and deserved. “Barachiel, you cannot be serious,” a woman exclaimed as she grabbed his arm. She was tall, slender, and had brown hair that was put in a single braid down her back.

There was some kind of tattoo peeking out. My eyes went to his hair and they were silvery white with a braid in them, and fell to his broad shoulders. It was like he was a direct descendent of the Moon goddess; Selene. The braid indicated he was from the Warbringer Clan. It was an ancient clan which produced some of the strongest warriors our world had seen. The Lycans were part of this clan and they always kept long hair and wore braids. Each braid in their hair indicated something personal. Could be a special victory, their mate or lover, or it could be the birth of their child. Their braids were significant and he only had one in his hair and I wondered what it meant.

Astraea spoke as she started to braid my hair. Hearing her I just nodded my head because I wasn't really in the mood to talk due to nervousness and excitement. I just saw how she braided my long hairs into a waterfall braid and curled the lower part beautifully making my hair look wavy and beautiful. After making sure that the braids were perfect she picked a velvet box from the vanity table. Opening it she pulled out the sparkling silver metal comb form petals of the pretty flower with leaves and tendrils accented with diamonds.

But women were notorious for taking forever. "We are ready now Brady. No worries." Brayden sighed and Lucian smiled then called out to Valkyrie. "Come on Val." She wore a sheer black minidress that had a sleeveless satin insert as well as satin shoulder pad inserts. The sheer black mesh was embelished with gold and black swirls and flowers. It had a satin stitched waist with a sheer open back and high collar. She had gold stiletto strappy sandals and a small boxed gold clutch. She had no jacket. Neither of them did.. Brayden found that odd. It was spring but it was still just spring in Chicago the nights were sures to get rather cool.

“Kyrian grabbed both of Ira’s wrists with one hand and pressed her hands tightly to the floor above her head. With his other hand, he roughly tore the neck of the white shirt, leaving deep scratches on the girl’s skin. The brown-haired man licked a drop of blood from her shoulder, then took a loud, drawn-out breath. -Your blood smells so wonderful... Sharp fangs pierced the tender neck. Ira screamed... Valya gathered all her strength and will. She had not used the other side of her abilities for many years. She liked saving lives much more than taking them. But she still knew something. Having ordered Ilyana to hide in the far hall, she prepared for the attack.

Zane’s head snapped toward the sound. “So you finally decided to show yourselves.” A soft laugh echoed through the trees. Then… She stepped out. Valkyra. She wore an entirely black cloak, her silver hair spilling over her shoulders as though the darkness itself had wrapped around her. A cruel smile spread across her lips. “I was beginning to think you’d disappoint me.” Zane’s grip tightened around his sword. “Where’s my son?” “No greeting?” She pouted dramatically. “That’s rather rude.” “I asked where my son is.”

She looked utterly angelic, as if she didn’t belong in this gritty, ruthless world. Her long blonde hair cascaded down her back in soft waves, gleaming under the warm lights like strands of silk. It looked rich, healthy, and painfully touchable. She always wore it down around him. I never understood why—maybe because he liked it that way. But my favorite was when she wore it in those tight Dutch braids, braided parallel across her head, framing her heart-shaped face with a strength and grace only she could pull off.

But I guess the goddess has other plans for me after all. Taking a few deep, calming breaths, I started again. I had to admit that when my black-streaked, silver hair was braided, it did look incredible. My mother taught me how to braid my hair like the warriors in our village did when I was a child, and I loved it. It wasn’t just a standard braid, it had twists and turns and adjoining braids knotted in. A little part of me hoped Michael would like it, which was a lie; I did it to impress him as I knew I looked good when I wore it like that.

When I was around humans, I wore my hair down, to cover my valkyrie ears. I was shorter and slimmer than the other Valkyries and, because of my status as a general, other Valkyries challenged me a lot to win my rank; the others thought that defeating me would be an easy way to climb in rank, but I used that to my advantage, what they underestimated would become their downfall. My entire Valkyrie team was unique to the others, I designed my team for stealth; we were all masters of martial arts and weapons, but our small builds were perfect for reconnaissance and assassination.
