Wrong Bride, True Luna
“Come on, don’t be so secretive. After all, we’re a family now. Tell me, Katherine, how did the mating ritual go? Is it finally finished?”
Dread washes over me, but I quickly hide it and nod, pointing at my neck, which is hidden behind a scarf. “Still healing, it’s not a pretty view, my king. I’m sure you understand.”
Derrick’s mouth pulls into a wide, satisfied smile. “Of course I understand. Women and their need to always look perfect.”
As he jokes, I silently praise myself for the foresight to wear the scarf. Not only am I hiding the faint bruise from Logan grabbing my throat, but also, I can successfully pretend I’ve been marked.
