The aroma of freshly drawn blood permeated the atmosphere, and those who were standing outside were taken aback to see a group of regular humans gathering around a vampire. They didn't understand how they could appear so knowledgeable, but they managed to kill the vampire by driving a stake through his heart. Vampires lose the ability to see and make use of their eyes when they use mirrors to create light. Smart people know that to kill a vampire, they need to take advantage of all the seemingly useless items that are being thrown away. They even can use knives to sever the heads of vampires and set fire to the rest of their bodies.

The people at the inn will notice that something is wrong. I understood what it meant when I saw Ryson drinking blood from that maid. Feeding on humans. On weak people. I had read too many books, watched too many movies, heard too many stories about myths and legends, liked fiction very much. Where humans and vampires didn't get along. Ordinary vampires can go a few days without drinking blood and only feed when necessary, but this one feeds on blood every night without fail,” Demetria explained. “Scary!” A shiver of fear ran down Clarice’s spine. “So handsome yet so vicious,” she commented in a trembling voice.

Louder, she continued, “You are to serve him tonight for dinner.” Vampires didn’t eat like other creatures. They needed blood to survive, preferably straight from the source. The tributes were mainly selected to be those blood wells. As werewolves could generally heal quickly, I imagined vampires could feast on them many times before the tributes finally succumbed. Knowing that, and knowing that I was the tribute selected to be Vampire Duke Damien’s blood pet, I guessed serving him for dinner meant that I would personally be the food, with my blood on the menu.

Kade asked curiously. “Celestials. The contact said that they brought two of them to the Atlanta feeding room. Celestial blood is so pure that it is similar to a drug for vampires. One of them is a mature female, and the other one is an adolescent. Adolescent blood is even more desirable.” That was positively disgusting. I did not hold it against vampires that they had to drink blood to sustain themselves because it was no different than us needing food to live, but the concept of feeding rooms was horrible. Then add in the fuckery of drinking from adolescents.

They want to take my blood to make themselves more powerful to defeat all other creatures.
