Adrian turns sharply and storms out, slamming the door behind him. Marian hurries after, calling his name.
“Adrian, wait! Don’t be like this!” she pleads, but he doesn’t answer.
I turn back to the healer, who is trying to pretend he didn’t witness the scene.
“First, I need to understand how she is carrying a pure-born vampire when she herself is a hybrid,” he says, brow furrowed in confusion.
“She’s a tribrid,” my father interjects, stepping forward with pride and authority. “She carries my blood—pure vampire blood—flowing through her veins even before she was born.”
