"Thank you, I shall see to that immediately." Getting the body was easy, she had a friend, Max at the morgue who gave her all the details she needed. The body she found was that of a man called Morgan Daniel. He was a twenty-seven-year-old convict that was serving for drug lifting. He had just recently died that morning and there was no family to come to claim his body. She paid Max off for helping to drop off the body and sent him on his way. The psychic made him a cup of tea before he left.

Blood drips from their daggers onto the stone floor. My heart stops. Time seems to stretch. One of them—the muscular one—shuts the door behind him. "You were right about her, Vladimir," the ratlike one remarks. "She’s truly a beauty." He inhales deeply and grins. "Mm. So sweet and innocent as well." "Aye." Vladimir’s thin lips twist into a sinister smile. "But not for long." I leap from the four-poster bed, nearly tripping over the covers. I snatch the letter opener from my bedside table and hold it out in front of me. Despite being made of silver, it’s a feeble weapon against three bloodthirsty Wolves.

Draven’s POV The call ended. I lowered the phone onto my desk without making a sound and leaned back in my chair. My gaze settled on the city lights glowing beyond the office windows, but my thoughts remained on the conversation I’d just had. Viktor Sokolov. The head of the Russian Bratva. The man had exactly the reputation I’d expected him to have. Professional. Calculated. Direct. He hadn’t wasted my time with threats. He hadn’t tried to impress me. He hadn’t puffed out his chest. He simply laid out the facts, told me he was coming to Limelight tomorrow evening, informed me he’d be bringing armed security, and made one thing perfectly clear. They weren’t coming for us. That wasn’t weakness

Of course he was. “And this power, how do you intend to help me get it?” A moment of silence stretched between us. Minutes passed and he still stared at me absentmindedly like he was in deep thought. With a heave of a shaky breath, he rose from his seat as her ran his fingers through his disheveled hair. “The pakhan of Russian Bratva. Viktor Nikolai Advik.” The glass in my hand shattered, my blood trickled down my clothed thigh, my eyes stayed widened and unblinking and I remained unmoving.

His hands are connected to drips, he’s chained up and hanged lifeless on it. Oliver breaks the chains, I remove the drips, then we take him out and leave the place immediately. Alpha Tate is still alive. I can hear his heartbeat. We are driving back to the pack, then I realized something. “This is too easy. Escape missions are usually difficult, and you fight obstacles. Maybe this is truly a trap.” I tell Oliver. “I hope not. Because for once, I’m happy we didn’t have to deal with those vampires. They are fucking creepy.” He says.

Blood of my blood, yet raised in the image of the man who had murdered my mother and tried to take my family. Liora’s voice echoed in my head from before I left: Trust your instincts, but don’t let the past blind you. We need this. Her kiss goodbye had been fierce, grounding. She was back at the mansion coordinating with the Krov alliance, Alora safely tucked away. Knowing they waited for me kept the Reaper leashed. Footsteps echoed from the rear entrance. I didn’t move. A tall figure emerged—mid-twenties, dark hair cropped short, sharp Volkov features that mirrored mine in the jawline and stormy eyes. Viktor.

A reporter stood outside Hargrave headquarters. “Breaking news!” “Jessica Hargrave has just released a shocking announcement regarding Hargrave Group leadership!” My heart skipped. The screen changed and Jessica appeared and Miranda was standing behind her holding Caleb. My entire body froze. Jessica smiled at the cameras. “As everyone knows…we Hargraves have been going through tough times…” She paused for a second like she felt pained and about to shed a tear. “My beloved husband Richard Hargrave unfortunately remains in a vegetative state and doctors have concluded he will not wake up for a long time..”

I asked, taking a bite of syrup-drenched waffles. “He sent Booker,” Carter replies. I choke on my pancake. “He is just as bad as Ajax,” I gasp after expelling the food from my airway. Booker Kimble, codename: Veles. He is a taciturn weapons expert tactician with a blood kink. He reminds me of C.H.A.O.S.’s hellhound, Ransom. You want to cuddle them because they’re so cute, but they are poisonous and will kill you.
