The light doesn't hurt my eyes - which is good since I don't technically have usable arms in my floaty form to shield them. As weird as this is floating in light I don't feel scared. I feel nothing but calmness which isn't surprising given the ordeal I've just been through. "Diana" I hear a female voice but can't pinpoint where it's coming from. "It's nice to meet you" the voice says again. I can't speak to answer the voice. I still, waiting for it to speak again. "My child. You have endured much in your short life" Her voice is beautiful and I can hear her smiling through it. It feels so full of love and emotion.

Her lips curled into a smile that was terrifyingly cold. She spoke. Her voice, captured by the high-fidelity microphones inside the cell, filled the control room. It was raspy from disuse, scratchy like dry leaves, but laced with unmistakable provocation. "Landon Voss," she whispered, her voice echoing in the surround sound. "Your fish are hungry." Landon chuckled, a low, vibrating sound in his chest. He pressed the intercom button, his voice smooth and abrasive all at once, like sandpaper gliding over velvet.

Then silence. A click. And finally… A woman’s voice filled the room. Soft. Warm. Tired. “Hi, my darling girl.” Aria broke instantly. Not dramatically. Not loudly. Just enough that tears suddenly slipped down her face before she could stop them. Because she knew that voice. Somewhere deep inside herself, she knew it. The recording continued softly through static: “If you’re hearing this, then things went wrong again.” A faint sad laugh echoed through the speakers. “I suppose that means I underestimated how stubborn dangerous men can be.”

My voice was a whisper. She shook her head slowly. She didn't know. She slowly reached out her hand. Her fingers hovered over the screen. Then she slid her finger across the glass to answer the call. She pressed the speaker button so I could hear everything. For a second there was only static. Then a voice spoke. It didn't sound like a human being. It sounded deep, metallic and distorted. "Your daughter is beautiful, Rita, " the distorted voice said slowly. Rita's face turned grey. She covered her mouth with her hands to stop herself from screaming. Fresh tears flooded her eyes again.

Someone who could protect her once we were gone… “Careful now,” I heard the female urge--- and contrary to her singing, her voice was sweet and sounded like velvet against my ear. Her small hands pressed against my chest, and I saw her pick up a glass of water. “Here, drink this and try not to move too much. You’ll just be sick otherwise.” She sounded like she knew what she was talking about – so obviously, I didn’t listen to her and fought her off in an attempt to get upright. And paid the price when my insides decided to become my outsides…

Looking at the one-way mirror, on the other hand, Jacob looked at the woman, he felt, what a cool girl. "The bait is moving." A woman's cheerful voice came from a telecommunication device. She looks like a doll on strings. She opens her mouth. Thick, dark blood pours over her lower lip. It drips onto her dress. “M... a... r... i... a...” the woman croaks. The voice is layered. It sounds like three people speaking at once. “I am right here,” I say. I do not blink. I keep my weight balanced on the balls of my feet. “Wh... at... do... you... thi... nk... of... th... is...?” the entity asks.

A moan to my left pulled me from my thoughts. I wasn’t alone. “Hello?” I whispered. Another moan. This time to my right. Two different voices, two bodies shifting with chains identical to mine. “Who are you?” I tried again. “Please…” a female voice murmured, weak and hoarse, as if she hadn’t had water in days. “Please, make it stop…” The other didn’t speak. She just cried softly, the restrained sob of someone who had already learned that screaming did no good.

Of nothingness. "Hello, little one." A voice. Female. Ancient. Warm. I turned. A woman stood there. Beautiful. Glowing. Silver hair that moved like water. Eyes like stars. "Moon Goddess," I whispered. "Yes." She smiled. "You offered yourself. Gave your life freely. Few have the courage." "Did it work? Are they safe?" "Look." She waved her hand. I saw the battle. Frozen in time. Kai reaching for my falling body. Damon in mid-shift. Tobias trying to run.

She was ready to close her eyes after saying goodbye to Albert but before she could do so, her phone rang. Picking it up with the energy that she can muster, she answered the call. In her voice, she was evidently tired and exhausted all over. “Hello? Who is this?” she asked through her phone. There was a bit of a static noise before she heard a response, and even the voice of the caller was masked with an AI voice changer. “Is this Hestia Leblanc?” said the voice— sounding as if the caller was subjected into witness protection.
